Oh well, it's a good thing trump has no authority over the league or the player's association.

Re: Make Russia Great Again

579639 It's like you're in hock up to your neck and all your credit cards are maxed out, but you still think it's a good idea to always pick up the bar tab for freeloaders who barely agree to cover the tip. Actually it's nothing at all like that. We spend far more than any other nation on defense. ...

I'm sure you do but yet you always manage to include your own fantasies when you relate my position to others. European socialist utopias indeed...

Yes, I'm willing to spend money to keep NATO alive...your money, my money, a lot money. I'm glad you're touched. I hope you understand what my position is n...

Re: Make Russia Great Again

579604 We don't have free trade with NATO, so what do you mean be we get a lot by footing the bill for their defense? Well, I believe I already told you what I see as valuable in our participation in the NATO alliance, namely: "...the benefits we get in overseas bases, peaceful trade and stabl...

Re: Make Russia Great Again

579577 It would be worth it for us to pay for all of NATO because we've had many decades of peaceful trade with Europe, but it isn't worth it for Europe to pay for any of it although they've had the same many decades of peaceful trade with us? A bizarre piece of logic indeed. Too bad the only place...

Re: Make Russia Great Again

I would add that it would probably be worth it if we had to pay everything for NATO what with the many decades of peaceful trade we've had with many European powers. It's very hard to calculate the value of peace, but it is worth something don't you agree?

True, but in the real world the President realizes the value of the NATO alliance goes way beyond the money we spend.

Who knows? I do think that having the US president suggest he doesn't care for Article 5 is a very bad thing to broadcast to Russia.

Re: Make Russia Great Again

Yeah, when I saw that comment this morning I figured NATO would go crazy. Aside from the fact that trump doesn't understand how article 5 works, what he said was very dangerous and could give Russia the idea that the US won't honor their NATO obligations.

579439 Like me, Stephen Cohen didn't vote for Trump. I found him a credible contributor to this topic given his lack of partisanship, and expertise on Russia. But you don't. You're comparing cases where people were convicted of crimes with instances where you believe there were crimes but there were not. Claiming that shows two standards of justice without offering any evidence of such is absurd.
