Re: 2018 "AIRSTRIKE" Passing Tournament

Must not have been true. Private school boosters/supporters never try to persuade public school kids to go to their schools as they are riddled with 5'7" longhairs. As I understand it, other public schools were complaining to the Dana Hills organizers.

Re: 2018 "AIRSTRIKE" Passing Tournament

I don't know if there is truth this claim or not. But the rumor was that Dana Hills and other public schools were having some of their players being "persuaded" to transfer to some of the private schools by some of the boosters from those schools, so they stopped inviting some of the big p...

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

Agreed... MV never really had to fully adopt the read option because they've had the talent up front. They've been able to go under center and hand the the ball off to a downhill runner. That's a big advantage in today's game.

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

The difference between MV and CDM, Los Al, San Clemente, Edison, & Tesoro (they are right there with the other four - they beat Los Al last year) is that MV tends to get an overall different group of linemen. The other 4 schools don't get those guys on a regular basis. They are all right there a...

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

I'd say 1 team would "moonwalk". The other would play 3 tough games that could go either way.

Re: Mission Viejo Football. Any news?

You could add Edison, Mission Viejo, San Clemente, Centennial, Tesoro, Los Al, they all have had runs of greatness. In the last 12 years how many of these teams won a D1 championship? 1 Centennial in 2014 Edison lost a championship to Olu and another to Servite MV lost a championship to Servite SC ...

Re: Mission Viejo Football. Any news?

However, over the last dozen years or so, every trinity team has had their time as king (sans JSerra). MD has been the only consistent top 2 o3 team over that time frame. OLu of 06-07 was dominant, Servite of 08-09-10ish was dominant, Santa Margarita 11-12 was dominant. The bottom 3 Trinity teams to...

572769 The Booty, Humphries, Redman trio would simply carve up the Sunset League I'm not sure how long you've followed the Sunset League, but no Sunset League team has ever "carved up' the league in football. There have been plenty of undefeated teams (in league) through the history of the lea...

This part seems doubtful... tough for a high school kid to leave beach for for a small school in Texas. I know I wouldn't have.

Re: OC Buckeyes to enroll at Servite instead of Los Al?

Just to clear up the whole "double holdback" thing. The window for a " double holdback" to be eligible to play varsity to sports is very very small . They would have to have a birthday between June 15 (cif eligibility cutoff date) and August 31 (September 1 is the CA birthday cut...

Re: Stir the pot

There are still plenty of "last bastions" out there: 572317 school made of teams mainly homegrown and kids whom have put school and friends first. I don't think we will ever see one win a D1 title again, but it can certainly happen in D3 and even D2. San Clemente, Tesoro, Edison are certai...

Re: OC Buckeyes to enroll at Servite instead of Los Al?

Economic gain in this case comes from notoriety. Having a football (and basketball) team make national headlines year in and year out brings notoriety and a sense of prestige to the school. Which, in turn, creates demand. Greater demand creates increasing student student population and tuition rates...

Re: Best High School QB ever from O.C.?

Great thread. Great names. A lot of good arguments. Bringing back some names I'd forgotten, like Aaron Corp. He's definitely in the conversation. It seems like we're not the only ones who realize there is a lot of talented QBs in OC... USC has sure followed that train of thought. Half the names ment...
