Re: Mission Viejo Football. Any news?

574041 So you want to put them in the Trinity that plays by a different set of rules? Makes perfect sense. MD and Bosco best 2 out of 3 for the open. The rest of the Trinity Centennial MV Rancho Cuc Upland etc in D1. Winner of that in regional game versus Narbonne or Helix. You nailed it...MD/Bosco...

Re: Mission Viejo Football. Any news?

574034 Watching MV thrash lesser public school teams has never been fun to watch and devalues whatever lower division Championship they win. Nobody cares that they won a bunch of Div. 2 Championship. They are too good and have a different set of rules than Tesoro and San Clemente have to play by. T...

Re: Mission Viejo Football. Any news?

573966 No, but that was not my point. I was trying to counter the assertion by some that, as a public school, Mission Viejo is limited to enrolling student athletes who live within their school district and attendance area. There are any number of examples that prove that is not true, and there hav...

Isn’t JT Daniels from Irvine or am I mistaken?

Re: scott meyer servite

What’s the measuring stick for Servite? Is it competing with MD? If so, the next coach is doomed. Putting the top 3 aside for a moment, who was the team that Servite wasn’t capable of beating this year? I guess I don’t understand the need for the tear-down, but I’ll defer to the Servite folks on the...

Re: Coaches Resigning

Other problem for SJH is that they are square in the middle of two Trinity League teams along with MV, San Clemente, CV and Tesoro. They have to worry about building a program with just the neighborhood kids while trying to keep those kids from getting plucked away.

Re: "The Lid is Off"! ~ LA Times {Transfers}

FBOC, Arnold should be limiting his reps at RB and focusing on the other side of the ball. I saw Ferrell on Sunday as he is coaching a Flag Football team...his limp is still noticeable, not sure he’ll be 100% by the opener.

Re: What has happen to Servite football

I can’t see Servite dropping into D2 anytime soon. Besides the Big 3, they could beat anyone else in D1 this year. And they would have trounced the teams at the bottom of D1. I think it’s going to be quite awhile before there are 18 teams in the SS better than Servite, especially with the current ex...

Since I’m not sure how many league games they play each year, can you let me know how long that streak spanned?

Trevor Lawrence, top overall player in Class of ‘18...first QB with that distinction since Matt Barkley. To be fair, Daniels was rated in Class of ‘19 all year.

Re: You won’t be missed JT

even though its off-topic, it's just I don't believe there is a thread that is solely about discussing SJB, just wondering, you think Bosco will still remain a championship-contender even though they lost O.C. Coordinator Chad Johnson? Is this a serious question or are you just trying to goad Mr Ni...

Re: Long Beach poly coach resigns

I don’t have direct knowledge of the situation, but I don’t think it’s as simple as “Attract and they will come” anymore at LBP. Pierce fought with the district on their tightening of transfer rules within the district. If a public school doesn’t have open enrollment or other loopholes available to ...

Re: Competitive Equity

The top division in the Southern Section should be an open division, allowing those teams to play in bowl games. Pittsburg and others lost in playoffs yet still get bowl games. Would have liked to have seen Bosco get the call to play Folsom, whose fans are pretty chatty about how Folsom would domina...

Re: mission viejos new coach

The AG stuff stopped about three years ago. They currently leverage other means to enroll kids who live beyond their attendance boundaries, mostly the open enrollment policy of Saddleback Valley Unified SD. They have also brought on dad’s of players onto the coaching staff, which they did with Tom S...

Plus the reality is that they are looking at two down years...Bob’s exit was well timed. When this guy gets off to a slow start it may prove challenging to attract kids from the other local schools.

Re: Subject

If MD was having a hard time finding opponents, isn’t it realistic to think that the Diocese would step in and apply gentle pressure to encourage Catholic schools in LA, SD and Ventura counties to schedule them?
