What To Do About Old Transformers, Computers, Wire, etc

I have a lot of old cat 5 wire, old transformers, remotes, old coaxial cable, etc. Does anyone have ideas on the best place or places to recycle this stuff?

Call the city that you live in and ask if they have an e-waste collection day. I know my city has one every year (usually in the spring) at the local high school.

Goodwill will take all of your e waste.

I second the recommendation to use goodwill. You have to take it to a collection center store and not one of their remote collection point trucks or bins, but they will take all electronics. I have done this several times now. Very easy.

Will Goodwill take old printer cables, old transformers (that I have no idea what they belonged to in the distant past), old telephone wires, too? Can I just drop off the box or will someone have to go through it while I stand there?

Their web site details what they will take but I have dropped off old cabling and a transformer without question. They basically point you to where they want you to put the stuff and you unload it yourself. Nobody goes through it. At least not at the place I have used.

Or, you can always use the drop it off in front of their door at midnight and haul ass out of there method...

All of that stuff is pretty standard blue trash can material, but if you take it to Goodwill you can deduct it.

Or you can take it to a recycling center and buy some OC or crack with the proceeds.

Hey, it's why people steal the wire from street lights. What can I say?
