My predictions

Best Movie: Avatar is going to probably win although I think Hurt Locker or Up in the Air were better movies.
Best Director: James Cameron because of the above although wouldn't be surprised to see Cameron's ex wife win.
Best Leading Actor: Jeff Bridges (although I think Clooney was better personally)
Best Supporting Actor: No one beats Christopher Waltz
Best Leading Actress: Sandra Bullock (terrible phucking movie, but this is easily the weakest the category has been in years, and she's the only one with the hype unfortunately)
Best Supporting Actess: Mo'nique (easiest slam dunk pick of the Oscars besides animated feature).

Fairly ghey thread topic for you Noto

Having said that, the only movie I saw this year was The Hurt Locker (rented it last night). Great war movie.

Inglorious Basterds...great film.

Hurt Locker..Good film

Meryl Streep...terrific in Julie and Julia

Christopher Waltz...Inglorious Basterd

Quentin Tarrantino....I liked the film a whole lot..fine script and quintessential Tarrantino story. Brad Pitt did a great job as well.

Avatar will probably get the nod...it sure as hell has gotten the publicity, but there is some negative stuff about a weak script and a non-story. Haven't seen it or most of the others yet.

Inglorious Basterds was good, but I felt it was too long. The ending was hilarious, but I was hoping for more Nazi killing all the way through. Waltz made the movie for me, and I don't think it's one of Tarantino's better movies actually.

Was Waltz the German interrogator guy? If so, I agree he made the movie for me.

I thought Inglorious Bastards was Tarentino's best movie to date....but I'm also a huge front runner.

Tarrantino has the skills to make people laugh at the darkest of situations. You almost feel guilty when the laughs come forth, but still you laugh. Pulp Fiction is still my fav...Samuel L. Jackson and Travolta had super chemistry in that film, and the script was choice. I loved the Travolta and Uma dance sequence .

Avatar is pleasing to the eye. Nothing else! Stupid subject. Talk about tree huggers, the 10' blue people actually worship a TREE! Dancing with Wolves II.

Inglorious Basterds, I will watch again on cable.

Yeah he was the German interrogator dude, and personally for me Tarantino still hasn't topped his debut movie Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction is second for me.

I also liked Melanie Laurent in the film...she has an edgy sexiness about her. I'd still watch Catherine Deneuvre read a phone book even at her present age, and Melanie Laurent also has that something about her that is very attractive. It must be those French actresses......Genevieve Bujold and Bridget Bardot also come to mind.
