Not if you have a good enough D-line.... and they don't have that either.

I was actually just referring to the claim that Servite has to run a 4-4. I like the 4-4 and its worked great for Servite in the past. A big reason for this is that many of the best linemen played both ways and the system was built around throwing the big boys in to the gaps so the abundance of skilled linebackers could make plays. If the D-line sucks I have no doubt they would change it though. The hut drill, formation, the salve regina after every game, these are the types of things that faculty and alumni would not stand for losing. There is no special attachment to the 4-4 though.

The new coach should abolish the garbage tradition of the Hut drill, he'd be my favorite Servite coach of all time if he did that.

Barely anyone, if anyone, in the PAC5 runs the 4-4 anymore. There are too many spread offenses. Teams may rotate down to a 4-4 look but to say they are going to line up in a 4-4 every down is an archaic idea. There are only a couple teams in the Southwest that run a 4-4 defense, Tustin being one of them. Most teams have gone to the 4-3 or 3-4. The 3-5-3 and 4-2-5 have become very popular in the South County.

The haka was my class's deal when we played. It was cool for our class and fostered some unity in the fact that we as seniors started something new that everybody liked by sharing an awesome aspect our teammates culture with the whole team, but its not something I would be sad to see go.

I was fortunate to be able to watch that in the locker room. My son and a couple others were amazed at the energy and unity in their young age as they watched before games. What a special time you will take with you in your life!

Does anyone have an idea of how they will announce their choice next Friday?

They will lay out a bunch of hats on a table that have the final candidates faces on them. Toner will don the winning coaches hat during a lunchtime ceremony broadcast on ESPN.

When Thomas was announced they sent out a telephone message announcing the new coach and they had a meeting introducing him. Fryer wrote an article, so did Sondeheimer and Fred Rogan mentioned it on NBC4LA. It was also on the schools website. This time they'll probably do all that plus TWEET it and slap it up in their FaceBook

I know you were joking, but, Toner has taken the high road and goes about his own business on campus and has little, if any, role in the athletic department. I believe he has shown a high level of character by doing so.

Steve Fryer is reporting that A. J. Gass is one of four finalists.

Coach Gass would be a fantastic choice and has the pedigree.....professional coaching experience, played the game 'all-pro', Servite Alumn, understands and supports Servite Formation.

Great person in leading Servite Football's next era.

This would actually be an ideal hire for Servite and (IMO) and if he would agree to it,bring back Toner as
the DC...........
