'Experts': 3 years [by July, 2020] to save the planet from irreversible destruction

Postby kramer » Tue Jul 25, 2017 12:11 pm

From the World Economic Forum (whose corporate members probably salivate at the idea fresh batches of cheap labor after undeveloped countries becoming developed (power, water, sewer, roads, etc) with climate change reparations...)

These experts say we have three years to save the planet from irreversible destruction

. . .

In a new open letter, six prominent scientists and diplomats, including former UN climate chief Christiana Figueres and physicist Stefan Rahmstorf, wrote that the world has approximately three years before the worst effects of climate change take hold. Published June 28, the letter urges governments, businesses, scientists, and citizens to address the world's greenhouse-gas emissions now.

If emissions can be permanently lowered by 2020, global temperatures will likely avoid reaching an irreversible threshold, they wrote. Impacts would include rapid deforestation, floods from rising sea levels, and unpredictable weather shifts that could ravage agriculture and affect life on the coasts, where the vast majority of people live.

Anybody want to bet that by 2020, there'll been at least one new date of "irreversible destruction" announced from 'experts'?

Some fun facts and a kramer speculation: Former UN climate chief Christiana Figueres is on record of saying that they are (I'm paraphrasing from memory) leveraging climate change 'solutions' to purposely change the economic model [system] of the world. Her brother is a former president of Costa Rica and a member of socialistinternational.org. Bet dollars to doughnuts that this new economic system they want to replace global capitalism with is socialism...

I always like the way you present articles about articles, or articles about studies, or articles about articles about studies, instead of the actual initial source. You do not look into the people who write the articles--instead you attempt to ridicule them by calling them "experts" when you don't even have a clue as who they were.

Nowhere in the article is there any use of the phrase "save the planet" or "irreversible destruction."

What the paper said was that if emissions continue to rise after 2020 then the temperature goals of the Paris Accord can't be me (Kramer always likes to frame it as calls for the immediate cessation of the use of fossil fuels--his favorite straw man argument.)

If anyone is interested, below is the actual article--not the second hand version kramer brought in.

Only thing worse than posting articles about articles about articles is liking them on Facebook. It's giving big time web cred - and big time ad money - to what are no more than Copy&Pastes.
Don't look at me, I just work here.

This post is about the World Economic Forum's claim of 3 years left to save the world. That they embellish what they wrote is a testament to Jonathan Gruber's claim on how left-wing elites leverage your collective stupidity to drive us deeper into a socialist hell.

And I do dig into who writes articles or makes wild-assed claims. That's how I found out that the Rockefeller wealth is behind (probably the principle driver) of environmental causes, and that they (and now Soros) controls most of the MSM via the IPI. The Koch bros have NOTHING even REMOTELY that competes with this left-wing system of dis-information dissemination.

Doesn't matter. I'm talking about the WEF, a MAJOR global organization with many prominent members.

By the way, you very often quote me saying things and when I search for them here on the site, never can find them. At least when I quote something, you can find it...

Yep, some countries are now starting to ban the gas powered automobile to meet the Paris scam goals.

By the way, wasn't just the WEF who embellished the nature article:

Turning the climate tide by 2020
- Aggressive reduction of fossil-fuel usage is the key to averting devastating heat extremes and unmanageable sea level rise, authors argue.
- The authors and co-signatories to the Nature article comprise over 60 scientists, business and policy leaders, economists, analysts and influencers, [Hmmm, so some of the 'science' in the article was NOT from scientists!]
- Recent research has demonstrated that keeping global warming below 2 degrees Celsius becomes almost infeasible if we delay climate action beyond 2020. And breaching the 2°C-line would be dangerous, since a number of Earth system tipping elements, such as the great ice sheets, may get destabilized in that hot-house.
- "We have been blessed by a remarkably resilient planet over the past 100 years, able to absorb most of our climate abuse," says Johan Rockström {what? Thought we had destroyed most of it due to white males and capitalism?]
- The six milestones for 2020 as defined in the article reach from energy (pushing renewables to 30% of total energy supply and retiring all coal-fired power plants) to transport (electric vehicles making up 15% of new car sales globally, up from roughly 1% today) and finance (mobilize 1 trillion US dollars a year for climate action). [Translated: Redistribute from rich nations to poor nations 1 trillion US dollars a year. Like I have been saying for years on this site.]
- "We stand at the doorway of being able to bend the GHG emissions curve downwards by 2020, as science demands, in protection of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and in particular the eradication of extreme poverty," Christiana Figueres says {"in particular' should say mainly. And Christiana Figueres brother is a member of Socialist International. Did you research her and find this on your own Fordama?]
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 144848.htm

Researchers say we have three years to act on climate change before it's too late
“2020 is a hard deadline. There’s no turning back if we don’t bend the emissions curve within three years,” says Sharan Burrow, The General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation and a signatory on the article. “There are no jobs on a dead planet.” {hmmm, so one of the signatories of the article implied that the earth would die if we don't meet the requirements by 2020. Maybe that's where the WEF got their info from? And Fordama, since you've 'dug' into this, how come you didn't find this signatory making this statement?...]

This post is about the World Economic Forum's claim of 3 years left to save the world.
Once again proving that you didn't read the source material. What's worse, it appears you didn't even actually read the article that you posted about the paper, but just the headline (which was probably not even written by the author of the article about the paper it was written about.)
