Head Coach opening at El Toro

Postby scj60 » Tue Dec 26, 2017 9:20 am

I saw on the CIF website that El Toro has posted for a new HC. Who is in line to get that job?

Interesting!!!!!
Keep in mind , the new AD at El Toro use to teach and coach at La Mirada high with coach Moschetti. Mike Moschetti didn't coach this year but is now assistant AD at LM.
If El Toro could some how get coach Moschetti to head down the 5 south, WOW!!!! The south coast league would be a big step up in competition for Moschetti compared to the horrible Suburban league.. Not sure how admin and the community at EL Toro would feel about new transfers every week trying to check in. I will say this Moschetti sure would make El Toro a destination for kids to go to that are trying to get scholarships .

I hope whoever comes in, doesn't change their model. They've had success with community kids. Very rarely do you hear of El Toro getting big impact transfers (although I'm willing to bet they've lost a few to MV, SM, and JSerra). Keep up the "our block vs. your block"mentality. That's what it should be all about.

With MV having a coaching change the time may be right for a guy like moschetti at El Toro...

Moschetti, NOT coming to ET, cushy tenured position at LM, teaches PE and assist AD, makes a great little salary and has that STRS retirement pension that NO one can touch.

California politicians are so scared of the teachers union they will NEVER fool with it!!!.

However Moschetti does miss coaching ( I know a family member who says he is itching to get back in ) if say the Bosco or MD position becomes available that might do the trick!!!

Bring him over as an assistant to Bruce at MD stay 2-3 years and take over, great young offensive mind.

He TAKES THAT DEAL!!!! in a heartbeat!!!

The US Supreme Court is about to ban mandatory deduction of government employee union dues. If this happens (this year?) the teachers union is going to be forcefully downsized, much as happened in Wisconsin. If they lose their money, they lose their power-and then the playing field is levelled big time.

Leveled with who? Why did this turn political? There is a political forum for that.

my point is that if this does happen in the USSC over the long term the pay deals/pensions/work rules in the public schools may not be as good as they were-meaning that private school jobs start looking more attractive to some, as do moving to other public schools with better deals to offer/

So you want all teachers to be broke non home owners, not just the private schools. My first job offer from a private school was 22,500 in 1996. I was making about 40k as a bartender. You’re not going to get the teachers/coaches you want at that rate regardless of benefits. Teachers have not been able to rely on the public’s good nature to recognize their worth, same with police and firefighters. Therefore, they negotiate the best deal they can get as a whole. Pretty American ideal if you ask me.

Hopefully the administration takes this serious and gets a good coach they can't BS that there is no teaching job make it work MV just hired Chad Johnson. The principal needs to support AD and get good coach!

Not what I said at all. Just stating that things will change (and possibly dramatically) if mandatory government union dues are struck down by the Supreme Court. Might impact school/coaching in a big way.

My Son said the AD had 4 names on a whiteboard of candidates. 1 was Drew Westling from Hilltop way down in Chula Vista. Found a video of him online. Name sounds really familiar. Is he an OC guy?

Drew Westling is a former standout QB from Aliso Niguel HS ('05?) where his dad is the current head coach. Drew has coached a couple schools in SD the past few years (Chula Vista and now Hilltop I think). Before that he was the OC for Aliso. Bright offensive mind and talented QB. Called his own plays at times his senior year.

Would be a very interesting hire for ET.
