2017 nonleague schedules - Edison and MD

Postby OutOfState » Sun Apr 09, 2017 3:01 am

I saw Edison tweeted their 2017 nonleague schedule. It is very solid. Sadly it appears to be an end of an era with no MD or Servite on the Edison schedule. I know that Dave White wanted his team to be tested against them in nonleague. Much respect to Edison and that was a great public/private rivalry over the years. I know there was a lot of mutual respect.

Question for MD Dad. I know MD plays Amat, Gorman and Bergen Catholic in nonleague. That is a loaded slate alone! Who are the other 2 nonleague games against? I haven't seen anything posted and many teams have finalized their 2017 schedules already.

Both coaching staffs, athletic departments and school administrations wanted to continue the Edison-Mater Dei series. However, the final decision was left to the incoming Edison head coach and he opted to discontinue the rivalry.

Mater Dei's preleague schedule is:
Bishop Amat
Bishop Gorman
La Mirada
Bergen Catholic
St. Mary's of Stockton

Whoa, that looks like a heavy non-league MD schedule. Where are the Bergen Catholic and
St Mary's of Stockton games to be played this season? Are these two year , (one home, one away commitments)?

The Bishop Gorman deal is home this season and away for 2018?

MD seems to be going for a national championship or bust?

Wow MD has really stepped up the nonleague schedule. Very impressive. It will be fun to watch.

The Bergen Catholic game will be at Mission Viejo. The St. Mary's game will be at St. Mary's in Stockton.

Don't know.

The Bishop Gorman deal is home this season and away for 2018?

Yes.

MD Dad!

I thought the MD secondary was suppose to be a work in progress, but then I seen two big ass soon to be sophomores line up at the last tournament for MD! After getting info One was a Free Saftey 6'2 Elias Ricks. And the other was like 6' feet at corner Name Darion Green-Warren. Are these guys transfers? Or were they on the freshman team last year. On 247/Rivals it says Green-Warren has a Offer from Nebraska. Who are those guys?

Seem like all IE DUCKS are Holdbacks? Does that mean they 16 year old Freshman? Are they coming from the IE, they don't look like your typical OC kids. If they are as good as advertised MD won't have a problem in the secondary at all. Rollo is really trying to get a ring I see!

Yes, Elias and Darion were both starters on the freshman team last season. In that tournament you saw, none of the five defensive backs had ever played a meaningful varsity down of football. That's why the secondary is a work in progress.
