Saudi Arabia Welcomes Trump

Postby Professor Fate » Sun May 21, 2017 10:52 pm

Pretty lavish welcome for President Trump. But how can this be. Trump is anti-Muslim, isn't he? At least that's what the Democrats and leftists in the blue states said, isn't it? Why, even the courts in those liberal states agreed.

So...how come the warm welcome by the leaders of the birthplace of Islam? How come they don't see Trump the same way the self-righteous left does?

The answer is pretty obvious. Even the fanatical Anti-Trump crown knew all along that Trump wasn't anti-Muslim...they just wanted to color him that way for political gain. Don't expect them to admit that they were wrong. They have been awful quiet about these meetings with the Saudis. I guess they are too busy waiting for some handshake they can criticize.

Here's the Saudi take on the situation. This article is called "Counterterrorism Cooperation at an All-Time High."

It comes from Arabia Now and it talks about the George Tenet Medal given to Crown Prince Mohammad bin Naif. It also talks about how Saudi Arabia has been the target of terrorism, and how they are fighting back by targeting the men, the money and the mindset of the terrorists.

Things under Obama got a lot worse before they started to get better – and they only started to get better after the GOP took over half of Congress and put the brakes on spending.

And this from Arab News

There was one topic that dominated the lobby of the Riyadh Marriott, where the media center for the Arab-Islamic-American Summit was set up: US President Donald Trump’s speech. Journalists from the Middle East, and those flying in from the US, seemed to all have the same question in the back of their mind: How bad would Trump’s speech be, considering his controversial pre-election rhetoric?

Not only did last night’s speech silence most critics — in this region at least — but it made it very clear that Trump will do what he thinks is right, no matter how harshly he is made to look like he is contradicting himself back home.

What matters to this part of the world is that we feared a president who would seek to divide us, but got one who last night talked about unity and how standing together will ensure we do not fail. We feared a president we were led to believe hates our values and culture, but we got one who sipped our coffee, joined us in sword dancing and told us last night that the US is not here to impose its way of life, but to offer us a helping hand if we choose to take it.

We thought that when Trump said “America First,” he meant we would be neglected and left to our misery. But it is his predecessor Barack Obama who did that when he opted to lecture and profess instead of adhering to his own red line when Syrian President Bashar Assad used chemical weapons against his own people.

What did Trump do? He fired back in less than 48 hours, and attacked a Syrian regime convoy a few days ago to make sure nobody thinks his administration is messing around. Trump is now off to Israel, and while he deserves two thumbs up for his Riyadh speech, all eyes will be on his negotiation skills to see if he can deliver what Obama and his other predecessors failed to achieve: A peace deal between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Trump seems to be making a habit out of sleeping with the enemy, doesn't he? The Saudis are not our friends. It was a little over a year ago he was blaming the country for carrying out the 9/11 attacks, and yesterday he's doing the sword dance with them. This guy is unbelievable.

Believe it. Not a peep about how "Islam hates us" or how Islam is a "hateful foreign ideology", "radical Islamic terrorism" or how "Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the U.S." , etc. etc.

It's very clear that Trump is able to tell people what they want to hear. It's much less clear what he actually believes (or will do). It is, therefore, no surprise that US newspapers viewed the speech with more skepticism than those in Saudi Aribia may have done. Trump probably has no idea the symbolism of the sword dance, but he does know that when in Rome ...

What's also clear is the the Saudis believe that the way to Trump's heart is squarely through his ego. They understand autocratic rulers and have trotted out every excessive third world dictator show pony they have.

The curtsy Trump did after receiving the medal was funny.

Ivanka received about $100 million donation to one of her foundations yesterday from the Saudis--I thought that was a bad thing when the Clinton's did that?

The fact that he already had to cancel an appearance after only one day gone is sad.

The money went to the World Bank not to any foundation run by Ivanka Trump. Yes. I know the link came from the Trump loving NPR

The World Bank fund, which provides technical help and investment funding for women business owners, differs from the Clinton Foundation in some significant ways. While Ivanka Trump proposed the idea along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, she is not involved with its operation.

Trump is anti-Muslim, isn't he?

When he needed to be. When he wanted the masses to distrust Obama.

How would you have handled getting the height-challenged king putting a medal around your neck? Loaned him your soapbox to stand on?

No, but he wants them in their place. Y'know, women in the workforce can be a dangerous thing.

Oh, and let's not forget he thinks there should be some form of punishment for women who get abortions.

Trump doesn't hate women, he just wants to assault them without consent.

So what? Do you think the Clinton Foundation kept the money in socks and jars?

Either way, the money went to charities of their choice. When the Clintons did it, it was nefarious! People were "buying influence!"

Check out the Opinions / Editorials about Trump's visit in arabnews.com . The one I copied mentioned the fact Trump actually DID something when Syria used chemical weapons, and compared that with the former POTUS words / inaction.

Unfortunately for us, we can't really get an objective take from mainstream US newspapers any longer - on either side.

I thought it was very interesting that the people who had the right to be most offended by Trump, actually allowed him to speak. Imagine that actually happening here on a US university campus. Somehow, those Muslims were able to get past all the rhetoric and conclude he isn't anti-muslim, but anti-terrorist. They also seemed to like the fact he told them they had to take the lead on fighting terrorism in their own countries.

On the flip side, Israeli newspapers have been more critical of him. Obama is called a muslim by many of the wacko right, and the muslim countries don't like him. Trump is pretty widely considered a friend of Israel, and apparently they don't think a lot of him...Go figure.

A little hard to reconcile those words with the fact Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will donate a combined $100 million to a World Bank fund for women entrepreneurs that was the brainchild of Ivanka Trump. That is unless you believe she's off the reservation on this.

It might have been a little easier to reconcile if they'd given the money to one of the World Bank's 33 similar funds that weren't the "brainchild" of the US president's daughter.

Um, he curtsied after the medal was around his neck. Quite dainty.
