St. John Bosco Transfers

Postby cruiser » Wed Jul 19, 2017 1:23 pm

Wow, if true, a poster on the SoCalprep board posted that Bosco has received Ten(10!) FB transfers
for the upcoming season! The poster has all the names and where they transferred from and again
if true, I guess people can stop ragging on MD.

Go to the "southerncaliforniapreps", board and check it out, pretty crazy!

Supposedly six 4-stars, and three 3-stars.

Bowman was a transfer last year.
Things under Obama got a lot worse before they started to get better – and they only started to get better after the GOP took over half of Congress and put the brakes on spending.

PF - poster shows six 4stars and four 3stars - although who knows who ranked them as such,
interesting stuff.

That's a misleading list, because not all those kids came in this off-season. Here's the list of the total number of transfers each Trinity team had on their varsity rosters for the last three seasons, per the CIF website. My 2017 list will come out after the Week 0 games.

2014 Season
St. John Bosco - 24
Servite - 10
JSerra - 7
Orange Lutheran - 7
Santa Margarita - 6
Mater Dei - 6

2015 Season
St. John Bosco - 22
Servite - 15
JSerra - 12
Mater Dei - 9
Orange Lutheran - 7
Santa Margarita - 7

2016 Season
Servite - 17
Orange Lutheran - 14
St. John Bosco - 14
Santa Margarita - 11
Mater Dei - 10
JSerra - 8

Two of those kids have been there since freshman year, not transfers. Two of them were at bosco last year. 1 was at bosco as a freshman then left for financial reasons (what all players do go for free?? Lol) and has now returned after being gone for 4months.
4 are transfers, two which did not start on their respective schools last year. How those kids have stars while playing JV as sophomores?????
The last kid I have never heard of???

Btw those numbers were not "new" transfers. If a kid came in as a sophomore he was on the tally for 3 years.

Good info, guys, Bosco must have lost some donors for 2016, Servite seem to be in the upper
TL half for transfers in the last noted three years, I am surprised - while MD has been in the
bottom half of the TL for transfers for the noted period - interesting...

I guess people should quit bagging on MD?

Well a jaded view would be......
Of the bosco kids that came in this offseason their was 1 kid with a previous offer.

Md after getting physically gashed vs. the bosco run game BROUGHT in 4 front 7 defensive players with offers before coming into md.

BBW, "4 front 7 defensive players with offers before coming to MD" sounds ominous. Except that one of them will miss the entire 2017 season, and another one had zero offers.

So his "financial reasons" were overcome in 4 months? Nothing like hard work to put a spring in your step...

And that is why it will probably be Bosco vs MD again at the big A for the CIF title.
What bothers me is why are these families hopping on the bandwagon. You would think as a parent you would want your son to challenge himself on Friday night's and become a better football player. In my opinion it will be hard for a person to get better when that person is playing on an all star team.

Btw that's the Opposite from what most parents at sjb think. DB vs WR 1 on 1's is good as any camp you can go to. And they do that every day. Competition like that is why they are successful.

Today's parents want immediate gratification and likely the kids follow. The chance to win a State championship and possibly a National title is certainly a lure for many, coupled with the chance to be seen by more recruiters and get that scholarship. It's not hard to imagine many parents thinking that way as skewed as it might be. Finally it is what it
is and it's not going away so get used to it or stop watching HSFB, easy choice. Complaining goes nowhere.

I see why they would think that. In my opinion when you are competing against the same kid, wether he be a 5 star or no star over and over and over again, you start to know how to cover that kid. There is no training like the REAL GAME. Also for most of these games, the starters will only be on the field for 2-3 quarters because most likely they are killing the other team and you can't get better sitting on the bench.

And that is not why bosco is succesful. They are successful because they are getting better players than the other HS. It is that simple.

Then explain passing league results. This summer they have lost to Paraclete, md with out their 3best players, cathedral and even ranch verde. Beat st Francis and Downey by only 1 score.

The explanation is real simple, passing league is not real football and trying to compare the two is like comparing Apple's to oranges.

Any data on the players who have transferred out of trinity schools. That would be interesting.

OC27, unfortunately the CIF database is organized by who filed the transfer approval paperwork, which is almost always the destination school. So unless you have the name of a kid, or the name of his new school, it would be an impossible task to identify all the kids who may have transferred out of the league.

Secondly, this is the time of year when schools perform their due diligence on things like academic eligibility, actual changes of residence, etc. Whether you like or dislike individual Trinity League schools, they are all very good at this. It would be unlikely that any of those six schools ever gets busted for using ineligible players, as happened last year at Los Angeles and Augustus Hawkins. With Week Zero games scheduled for Aug. 25, I'd expect the tidal wave of submissions and approvals starting around Aug. 10.
