Kevin Sumlin needs a job, and he can suffer on the $5000 a year salary for a few decades.

So I take it the interviews tomorrow are just a dog and pony show?

MV will hire the person who gives them the best chance to compete with the Trinity and that means someone who will recruit players just like the Johnson's did. In effect, Chad Johnson will be the likely hire unless some big name wants to move his operation to South Orange County. Division I and Division II are on a much higher plane than the rest of the divisions and Mater Dei, SJB, and Centennial are a step above Division I. DIII on down has some really good high school football teams but it's a different sport than they're playing in I and II at this point. They still have regular high school football players on their teams that will play their last football game their senior year. That is not the case in DI and some of DII.

Chad Johnson would be bad news for us Bosco fans. He's a big reason for Bosco's success the last several years. One heck of an offensive coach. Let's hope they don't know what they're talking about. What they need is the guy at MD with the pipeline to the IE Ducks. Wouldn't need any Ag program anymore, tuition is paid for by the taxpayers, they'd be set.

Lopez assisted at SM under Welch, played at Esperanza when they were Sunset League/Pac 5, coached at Trabuco Hills. Question is whether or not he can "attract" players-which will not be an issue with Chad Johnson.

Coaching at Bosco a little different than coaching at MV
First of all the boosters who lured the kids from POLY to go to Bosco had lot's of $$$, although MV is free, where are the kids going to come from?
POLY kids aren't coming all the way to MV, he had a free run in Long Beach and Bellflower for talent, he will be competing for kids with MD,SM,OLU,JS
He is an offensive genius no doubt, but you need PLAYERS!!!
Bosco was a virtual door matt until they opened the wallet, Negro and staff got really good when the KIDS ARRIVED!!!!
this coach is outstanding, with KIDS he will get better, without KIDS, just average!!!

Hmmm...talking about the best teams money can buy...MV can not buy players as you suggest...one thing about Johnson's Bob, Rob, Bret is they are really great coaches...Record. MV is tight with El Toro, Sister schools, CJ is ET grad...there is plenty of talent in SoOC...will MV...should MV compete with the best teams money can buy? TBD...

He’s obviously picked up some things and knows his stuff. If he’s been able to turn around two hard on their luck programs, imagine what he can do with MV? He could be trading in a musket for a howitzer.

I said MV was FREE, there is NOTHING to PAY, so NO $$$ needed
So how do you get kids away from all the schools who waive the tuition??? so they effectively go free to the privates!
Bosco had a great supply chain called LB POLY, parents of POLY kids loving the thought of sending their kids FREE to a private school
A good percentage of kids parents cannot afford to send their kids to a private school, so the local high school is a great choice.
BUT if the private school is free to you why not go there??? ESPECIALLY if you are a player with D1 potential, of course "if" a kid is potentially D1 they will be seen, but why not guarantee you will be seen by going to the privates!!!
If a kid is a potentially D1 receiver, wouldn't his changes be improved by going to MD and have JT throw to you for 13 games???

No, more than 4 D1 receivers in OC...plenty in fact. Van Pool with Micky D breakfast will be enough incentive...I have offered to drive... :mex:

Name me one kid from Poly that went to Bosco? Bosco always had talent in fact the year before Negro got there they had just as many D1 players. One is still playing in NFL, one is playing in Canada. They literally had about 7 guys on offense go Pac12 and they didn't make the playoffs. If KIKI was still running the program Bosco would be the last place team every year.

Did you not see a correlation in Bosco's rise and Poly's becoming just above average?
Do you really think all of Rosen's guys came from Bellflower???
Negro did a masterful job of coaching and is probably in the top 5 guys in all of So Cal, he can thank Poly for the pipeline of players which helped
KIKI didn't get the numbers of POLY kids, no I can't name a certain kid, can you deny the Bosco's rise and POLY average performance were not related?
