2017 MD Football - TBE??

Postby NotDonaldBren » Thu Feb 08, 2018 5:49 pm

Now that National Signing Day has truly put a cap on the 2017-18 high school football season, and considering the listing of signees for OC teams on threads, we should highlight the sheer talent on the best team in the county/state/country, and arguably the best team in California history (stay classy Bob).

Although this might be the most unpopular post in the history of OC Connect, based on the amount of MD hatred flowing through the (OC internet) Force, we're gonna go ahead and feed that beast! As a fan of HS football it is undeniable the list of accomplishments for this team is truly ridiculous and deserves mention in totality. So I put it together for all of your viewing pleasure lol.

Whether you consider it the "Best Team Money Can Buy," the Best "Super Team"/"Mercenary" Team/Club Team/4 Vert Team of all time, the Best HS Team in California history, or simply the Best Team of Monarchs that Rollo and MD has ever put on the gridiron, the fact remains: this Monarch team wreaked HAVOC and DESTRUCTION on everyone and everything in its path. It was named national champion by every existing major poll -- UNANIMOUS -- by my count the only California team to do that other than De La Salle 2003 (and one of only a few nationally to ever pull that off). And whether our collective criticisms about roster building and critical transfers (rampant among their competitors as well, private and public) be valid or not, this was arguably the most talented and dominant high school football team to ever take the field.

A non-exhaustive list of the 2017 Monarchs individual and team accolades and accomplishments (starting with the free educations) is below. Given the STAGGERING facts below, I'll restate a question from a December thread: is this team TBE (The Best Ever) (in California, and potentially beyond that)?

Warning: this post includes transfers -- parental discretion is advised. This should be fun:

I stand w/ you if that is not solely a question by you, "TBE". Everything is open for debate and some of all of this is simply "mythical" but you have to tip the scale in what very likely is "THE BEST EVER". :notworthy:

TL;DR

Honestly, who cares? MD had a good season. Nothing more, nothing less. Nobody wants to celebrate this team or where the program is heading. It's not good.

Couldn't agree with you more, plus this guy's infatuation with this subject is starting to come off a little creepy.

I care and congratulate all the teams accomplishments. It was a fun year and I am sure there are a couple more accolades NotDoanldBren missed. Can't wait until next year although it will be a whole new animal.
