Re: BYU football gains two southern Calif. commits

So this is a thread about BYU (it is in the title)...

Re: Pop Warner/JAAF question

1: I am just stating that their are a large number of options. 2: Most leagues have long standing presidents because most people aren't willing to have a second job with no pay. 3: If you live in Santa Ana and want to play somewhere else then play JAA and you can play for any JAA organization in CA...

Re: Pop Warner/JAAF question

No one is forcing him to play where he doesn't want to. If he doesn't want to play there then don't sign up and write a check to the league. That is exactly what you are doing... It is coercion... If you don't play here; you cannot play for PW... What is that? Rumpers dad will sign a waiver for any...

Re: Pop Warner/JAAF question

Presidents are elected every year in pop warner, so you can always run and and make the necessary changes to your association. You can play JAA or Pop warner and you can also start your own league like Snoop Dog. They way you are talking is like saying it isn't fair that we have to follow the laws ...

Re: Pop Warner/JAAF question

As far as selective issuance of waivers. That's why the waiver is there, to keep certain associations from stockpiling all the players while another can't field a team. Does Burger King have protections so McDonalds won't dominate the market? Maybe your line of thinking works in Greece... But this ...

Re: Pop Warner/JAAF question

The idea that a PW organization owns the rights to a kid before even knowing their name is scary. It is ridiculous... And goes against every value of capitalism... It just has not been challenged yet... I don't play PW anymore (simply because they play on Sundays); but the rationale from RR and gre...

Re: Pop Warner/JAAF question

Yes. Free agency after 4 years. You could hold out for a waiver. You're missing the entire point anyway. The organization you're joining is OEC, not the individual city. You join, you abide by the rules. Very similar to joining little league and getting drafted onto a team. Except for the larger ci...

Re: Pop Warner/JAAF question

1: Ever hear of the NFL draft? 2: NBA minimum age rule? 3: School attendance boundaries? 4: Ever hear of 2 pop Warner teams in the same city? 1: Ever heard of free agency? And you don't "have to" play for the team that drafts you (see John Elway and Eli Manning) 2: Which was challenged in court... ...

Re: Anyone Watching LB Poly's Hard Knocks-esque Reality Show

Yes, and that was the same kid that later said the scholarship was his way out of Long Beach. Lara's comments went in one ear and out the other. These kids see Kobe, LeBron, Ochocinco or whatever his name is at the moment, etc and all they see is the bling. They should listen to Herm Edwards' speec...

Re: Anyone Watching LB Poly's Hard Knocks-esque Reality Show

The thing I don't like about it is the way some of these kids think the only way "out of Long Beach" is that athletic scholarship. Especially that one boy, Demond??, who's not even starting. What about going to college or even a trade school? You can't tell me that getting an education isn't an equ...

Re: Pop Warner/JAAF question

It is a private organization, you can choose to join and abide by their rules or not join. Pretty simple. Ralph’s is a private organization... Does ur local Ralph’s set barriers to prevent you from going to the one in Costa Mesa? Being private does not allow you to create rules that are actually il...

In Long Beach the "good neighborhood" is on one side of the street and the "bad one" is on the other side...

Not in Pop Warner. If he lives within the boundarys, as described in the Pop Warner by-laws, then he plays in that city or gets a waiver signed by that city to play somewhere else. If he is in a "free zone" which is outside any of the other city boundaries he can play where he chooses. Not sure abo...
