Re: How did this all start?

Starting line-ups are now littered with transfers and the kids that play don't represent the school they play for in any manner whatsoever. The football players that actually play for Bosco and Mater Dei have no sense of what their respective schools stand for and represent. These kids do represent...

Re: The new game

=D> TT For those of us who have been around lower division football for any length of time, the idea that any of this is new is naive and reflects the increasingly Trinity/MV-only focus of this board over the last decade. Recruiting might be more open, but it has always been present. The links betwe...

Missing quite a few pros Luca - Barkley, Leinart, Beurlein, Rob Johnson, Colt Brennan...

None have 3 Pro Bowls or the career of Palmer, but the county QB history is a bit more rich than "that's about it"

Re: What happened to the Irvine Schools?

Woodbury, Stonegate, and Portola Springs will feed into Portola High School. At projected build and sale pace, that Portola area/ Marine base area will also need a sixth high school in the near future. IUSD wants all of its high schools at 2400 or fewer students.

Re: What happened to the Irvine Schools?

Just to back up TT's point about the "high rise" building. All of the stuff around the Spectrum is in Woodbridge's attendance boundary and there are five total high school students in there. Same story with the stuff around Jamboree. There are almost no kids living in all that development. And you a...

Re: Will HSFB allow Linemen to report as eligible recievers?

The anti-A11 rule changes narrowed the definition of a kicking formation to either a place kick with a holder with knee on ground and a kicker behind him or a formation with a kicker at least 10 yards from line of scrimmage (old rule was seven which made the A-11 passing game feasible). Must have fi...

Re: New Newport Beach CDM Coach

Booster clubs cannot pay coaches. Only schools can pay coaches. And payments made from the school are salary/ public record. CIF BlueBook: F. Coaching Principals are responsible to insure that all coaches of the CIF member school for all individual or team(s) meet the requirements of the California ...

Re: Nobody Wants to Play Orange Lutheran

Both the split back veer and the flexbone are veer option based offenses with under center quarterback play. SBV typically operates with two running backs aligned behind the guards. The flexbone typically features a fullback directly behind the quarterback and two wing backs aligned outside the tack...

Re: The 18 hour practice rule - The end of Double Days

Once it kicks in, the new state contact practice law is going to have far more radical implications for changing how teams practice than the 18 hour rule, IMO. Teams will have to be much more efficient about their time spent in full pads, especially during fall camp/ before game weeks kick in. 18 ho...

Re: Willie Puga

The last time I did the math for a track season it was $.025/hour. I can remember interviewing a walk-on for a football position, telling him the stipend, and having him say "That is per month, right?" I laughed, he left, don't think he ever ended up coaching...

Re: Willie Puga

TT - I have to agree with odd. Strikes me as part of the reason schools are so reluctant to bring on walk-on coaches - a lack of understanding of how public education and educational funding works. Nearly every coach on every public staff is paid using fundraised money, and pulling together those fu...

Re: Proposed playoff divisions for 2014 & 2015

As one of the required qualifications for State bowl participation is a section championship and with CDM a likely contender for repeat state championships the next few years if they can win section titles, CIFSS has every incentive to try to keep CDM in a winnable playoff division while also gettin...

I have also heard complaints of DLS using a stalled snap - line fires out on the H of "hut", center does not snap until the echo of the word. In the end though, they are coming fast, low, with perfect technique and after a fanatical weight program (and a unified strength program and offensive system...

Re: CDM is still rolling!

Tommy's well articulated take on the situation can be found farther down the board in PCL thread. Sore is an understatement and understandable. The short version is that the IUSD ADs with the most pull had their own reasons for not wanting Laguna Hills in the league (including the fact that before t...

Tommy - you are correct on frosh results. CDM Freshmen this year undefeated. All wins by over three touchdowns. Average score 49-10. This year's junior class as freshmen only surrendered three touchdowns all year.

Re: PCL

The IUSD bus rule was set up when the ACLU lawsuit called into question transportation fees. The district stepped up to cover transportation costs and eliminate the fees and the ADs agreed to not provide transportation to games within the city after 5pm or on weekends in order to limit costs. One of...
