Re: Scrimmages This week

I was at the JSerra–Norco scrimmage. Not a whole lot of exciting stuff to report. If you count scores it was probably something like 5-1 or 5-2 in JSerra’s favor. I didn’t see anybody stand out particularly for Norco other than a junior quarterback who is about 6’6” and can probably throw the ball 5...

Re: Russia probe: House Intel Republicans End Investigation

I read a head line saying that President Trump called the European Union "our enemy." Wondering " what the hell ?" I looked it up to see what he had actually said. In response to a request (just before meeting with Putin) to identify the US’s "biggest foe globally right now&...

Re: The Star-Spangled Banner

Thanks for that, SLK. Glad to see you're still breathing. I’ve never read all the lyrics before. Doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, there, does it? It’s more interesting when you read it with a historical perspective in mind and remember how stilted the language was back then. You probably know that...

Re: QB Elite 11 Finals ~ 2018

For whatever it’s worth to some of you: Hilinski played at JSerra as a frosh and clearly had an arm. What was more impressive to me is that he is a tough kid. He played probably three games with an ankle fracture before he let on that he was hurt. I was impressed.......Luca

Re: Any more transfers to speak about?

I don’t follow HSFB activity very closely any more. I have heard references to transfers but couldn’t give you any details. If JSerra has been bringing in numerous athletic transfers that’s no more defensible than anybody else doing it. It’s a plague on high school athletes/athletics and if so they’...

Nice, Luca. A party that is being openly and demonstrably discriminated against somehow needs absolution for the evil act of seeking a legal remedy and pursuing justice in court...un-frickin'believable... " As surely as the night follows day. " I knew was only a matter of a few hours befo...

Re: Any more transfers to speak about?

My initial comment disputed the contention that numerous other programs were simply waiting in the wings to pursue a similar lawsuit against the CIF, and that Mater Dei simply beat them to it. The subsequent observations are, to put it mildly, subject to interpretation. To say that it was the Dioces...

Re: Any more transfers to speak about?

I can only speak with confidence about Santa Margarita and JSerra, but they would never have had the temerity to file a lawsuit against the CIF. Especially to force the way open for athletic transfers..........Luca

Re: Why the gun industry doesn't like Republicans

It's interesting, Prof, that at one of the local private schools - may be many of them, for all I know - a couple of the teachers are surreptitiously armed. They have military or police experience, know how to handle a weapon and volunteered to be the "go to" guy if there is a problem. Tha...

Re: Kim Jong Un to Meet with Trump!

I only stop by here on occasion now, in the unlikely event that somebody has some original insight. The longer you stay away, the more you understand why you are doing it. The most pressing threat to US security in the short-term is that North Korean psychopathic doughboy’s belligerency and persisti...

Re: Trinity League (and any O.C.) in the NFL

I think Tuerk has been released by Arizona. His career has been very disappointing. I don’t think he ever recovered from the ACL tear in the middle of his senior year at SC. He was listed as the best center in the country and a projected first round draft choice but I don’t think he’s been able to m...

Re: My view of this forum

There are two predominant sides to this board, the political side and the high school sports side. The political side was initially proposed as a board where different opinions were welcome for consideration. Over time, disillusionment set in amongst some when they realized that there actually were ...

Omar Bongo I mean, since when has "true beliefs in the creeds of the school" played any part at all in which school a parent chooses to enroll his or her child in? From my personal knowledge, at least since around 1940 when my grandparents sent my father to St. Monica's in Santa Monica be...

He's as close to a idol as I have had. How he could do those absurdly complex calculations in his head with such an inability to communicate - and his mind racing ahead of his speech - is unfathomable. His family said he'll be remembered for years. No, it'll be centuries........................Luca
