Re: Transfer News? It’s that time of year again!
YES!! His post answers the question: He states "Monarchs," not "Crusaders." The best receiving corps in the nation's already used to Bryce's style, so brilliant. No, he's not Bryce (who is?), but even if he's close, MD is gonna be trouble! Let's go!!!!!! He knows. I think it's sarcasm. I'm pretty s...

Re: Orange Lutheran vs. Long Beach Poly
Amazing game. Truly amazing. Poly was done..down 14-0 in the first quarter and unable to move. The little guys got it done. Great to beat a team that had one of our transfers. Glad also that it's D2/3.
Poly showed heart..tremendous heart.

Re: Open/D1 Playoff Thoughts
LBP actually did play the MD/SJB game. Poly got three of the top transfers that year, a QB from Oaks Christain, an WR from LA Hawkins and a Free Safety/CB from Hawkins as well. Matched up with some good returners. Poly was really really good that year. Mater Dei beat us 55-13. And that is cause Roll...

Re: Open/D1 Playoff Thoughts
My feelings exactly FatherSonHolyHldbcks. Lets see...get in as an 8th seed and get murdered by SJB or MD...even get in 7th and get spanked by SJB,MD or CC. Hmmm....or compete in D2 where you actually have a chance. Best thing to happen to San Clemente was to lose to Corona del Mar. And by that margi...

SJB Braves 39 LBPoly 0- Freshman football
SJB Braves destroyed LBPoly JV. Last I read it was 55-0 at the half
If the JV and Frosh teams are that great...imagine how the Varsity is. Time to stop scheduling these games. Someone could get hurt.

De La Salle loses
And that means the road to #1 in the nation gets a little easier for the Monarchs. The only argument I can see is from IMG East.
Now all they have to do is win out against those two DC area parochials........and SJB, of course.

Colin Kaepernick-Nike-and the anthem
Something really bugged me about Friday's Los Al-Poly game. Besides the obvious, us losing despite the Servite transfers. Offense is stinking it up. But that isn't what has been bugging me. The anthem. Beautifully done. It was a color divide. White, Samoan, Asians all stood for it. Hispanics as well...

Re: Will a Public HS Ever Win a D1 Football Title Again?
LOL. Let me tell you. last year, Poly played the transfer game. We got three of the top ones, and another pretty good one. Result? Mater Dei 55, Poly 12. Something like that. And we got lucky we fooled them with a fake punt, and Rollo felt Catholic enough not to run up the tally. The only way to com...

Re: Long Beach Area Top 10
That means Old Man Croson and his Chaminade squad are at the top. With games against Folsom and Oaks Christian, I don't see Chaminade finishing undefeated.

One of Our Own Being Honored May 4th
Surprised it hasn't been mentioned, but on May 4th, there is going to be a meeting of Orange County Catholics Foundation featuring Cardinal Dolan, and receiving a special award, Bruce Rollinson, Coach of Mater Dei. This group is raising money for kids to get scholarships to Orange County catholic sc...

I don't pay close attention to the NFL, but no Chris Gallipo? No DJ Shoemate? QB from the same time(that dude was tough).

Where's the Talent?
Just want to get a feel for this. Just think of one school...the school you support. Support the most. And I ask you...is the talent there? I ask, because in doing the math, I got, at this point, possibly three D1 football guys. Two are looking are Oregon. And, well...that is it. Barring any transfe...

Re: playoff basketball
For many years I believed the urban legend that Gary McKnight was an average coach who won all those championships with superior talent. I was dead wrong. 1990 Mater Dei 46 Long Beach Poly 45 at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles. McKnight's Monarchs win with a falling out of bounds three pointer from...

Yes, Long Beach Unified has open enrollment. Meaning you could live by Millikan and go to Poly. Not only that, but lots of kids from Long Beach go to school in Los Al, lots of Lakewood kids go to Poly, etc. As for talent, it's dropped seriously in all sports. Football will be weak this year, I don't...

Re: 2018 Free agency
Servite does not have to "join the party". Just a couple of more losing seasons and they will be in D2, which appears to be the last bastion of somewhat regular high school football. I don't have a problem with that. Wow This is also where I see Poly going in two or three years...possibly next year...

Re: Long Beach poly coach resigns
not a big surprise. The talent level is way down, and the next two years are going to be rough. No JV team this year. There is nothing professionally he would gain by staying. In fact, the Millikan-Poly game next year should be competitive. It's amazing how fortunes have changed. The talent have Bra...

reminds me a lot of DLS in the early 2000s. No league wanted them, and they went from the BVAL, to the EVAL, to league games not counting. They travelled outside, going to Hawaii, SoCal(played a team called Mater Dei...and Poly) and finally Washington. The truth is, it's insane to play superteams li...

Re: Mater Dei vs De La Salle
It is interesting to note that the team that ended the streak, Bellevue of Washington, later on had to fire it's coaching staff over recruiting violations. DLS was awesome. Back to 2017, yeah , different DLS. DLS runs, MD stops the run. MD has all those D1 receivers. Still can't believe that TD to I...

Re: mission viejos new coach
that is more of an accurate statement. There is a Bosco player whose brothers went to Poly, including one that went to UCLA. There are a couple others who also may have made their way to LBP. I noticed all year during Moore league play how thin the talent was(including at Poly), but moreso at Jordan...
