Rubiks cube in 6s by a machine

I was an assistant parent coach for my kids' FLL robotics teams back in Huntsville Alabama. These are impressive little robot blocks.

This video is pretty amazing.

Re: Stop Bickering. The World Ends Tomorrow

Mr. Camping's delusions (or con game) aren't any different than those of any other religious person. People hear voices in their heads about going to heaven or the second coming or whatever. Same thing. Different magnitudes. Both ridiculous. The catholics, the jews, the hindu, the muslims, etc all h...

Re: Priest–penitent privilege

Much simpler than that, Charles. We all live up to the expectationas of our peer group, or the group we most identify with. You joked the other day about kicking a puppy, but ended up saying you really wouldn't. Why?? You wouldn't leave the house without pants on, or even just in your jockeys.. Why...

A couple years ago I printed out and taped onto me a bunch of pictures of baby chicks. I went as a chick magnet.

Re: Priest–penitent privilege

Bertrand Russell once observed that "The most savage controversies are those about matters as to which there is no good evidence either way." And there is no convincing evidence either for or against the existence of God. The fact that you strongly believe in one option does not indicate that the c...

Re: Priest–penitent privilege

It is no accident, Charles, that you are the only one on this thread who cannot understand why and how the current laws have evolved. At the risk of being seen through by your piercing intellect, consider the following: 1). Most people on the earth, and especially in the United States, believe in t...

Does the church go along with that? Are there any instances where a priest exposed someone (who had spoken with the priest in confidence)?

Re: Kinky Christians.

If atheism was not intrinsic to the barbarities of communism in recent history, then theism is likewise not intrinsic to the barbarities of past centuries. No, you can't make that assertion. Atheism wasn't the main driver of communism in recent history and theism was the main driver to [many of] th...

Re: Where do you get your oil changed?

I usually do it myself. Go to a filthy place like a Wal-Mart or Big Lots......pull in the parking lot, remove the oil filter first and have the new one ready to put on. After that, push the vehicle back about 8-10 feet, pull the oil drain plug and let the oil run out all over the parking lot. Fill ...

Re: Would you tap your 401k to avoid foreclosure?

It all boils down to how much your home is worth, how much to get yourself out of foreclosure and the ability to continue to keep your payments current. That's why I originally wrote a person would have to crunch the numbers. Depending on age, equity, income, amount underwater, size of 401(k), reti...

Re: Anybody do the Great Park Balloon thing?

I just called they said one hour would be a minimum wait. Probably won't go. If the line was 15 minutes or less I'd go for sure - especially if it was really clear.

Where do you get your oil changed?

That is, if you don't do it yourself? For decades I did it myself but it is messy, a hassle, and not that much cheaper than paying some place if you have a coupon. I just hate waiting around. Where are places that are cheap and you don't have to wait? 2008 Toyota Sequoia and 1998 F-150 if it matters...

Anybody do the Great Park Balloon thing?

We were thinking of doing it today but it is not very clear - would want to do it on a really clear day.
It is supposedly free (my favorite word in the world).
Anyone experience long lines? Would we expect them today?

I am in the process of reading "Orange County" by Gustavo Arellano, the guy who writes "Ask A Mexican". Throughout the book he recommends the best restaurants in many towns in OC. I copied them down and here they are: Wholesome choice Irvine Ramos House Cafe SJC Aloha BBQ MV El Fortin Fullerton Supa...

Even if the penalty for pulling the money out was eliminated? http://www.latimes.com/business/realestate/la-fi-harney-20111016,0,6538730.story It is being considered. Currently there is a penalty (and taxes if not a Roth 401k) to pull the money out. The proposed legislation would amend the tax code ...
