Re: #21 for Edison

As I understand it, Huntington Beach high school district has an open enrollment policy within district boundaries (assuming there is space), as do most OC districts with multiple high schools. I’m not sure what is meant by a student who is “supposed to be at FV.” According to maxpreps he’s been on ...

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

Well put, Bick. Sometimes people take post's too personal. People get riled up like Bling-Bling was still here stirring the pot. This is a great forum for those who enjoy high school sports. It sucks when people get riled up like the trolls in the political forums. Bick has been posting for a long t...

Re: OC Varsity Pre-Season Top 10

La Habra can attract the transfers now so I suspect they are one of a few publics that will be able to rival MV. I see that Edision has but 3 returning starters on offense and not much more on defense. Los Al on the other hand has many returning which gives them the edge IMHO over Edison. Where CDM...

Re: OC HS Top Football Committed Recruits Class 2019

So Fumamatu is an interesting omission with the 2020 kids. He leaves La Habra where he was a MaxPreps All American and had recruiting momentum to instead transfer to MD. Now I’m hearing from MD parents he likely will not even start. So my question is did it make sense to transfer to MD and practice...

Absolutely. I think he has 3-4 offers. I assume they like him at DB.

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

As we approach the season Norman is the league's top RB. I believe he's the only fulltime starter coming back this year (I believe this will be his 3rd year as the starting RB). He's a solid, well-rounded back. That's not to say he can't be outperformed this year, but as of now he's the top dog.

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

6 new starting QBs... none of them are “the best” at this point. I like Bick’s take on what makes the best QB... it ain’t the stat line.

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

Maybe this has been brought up and I missed it. But, if I'm not mistaken every team in the Sunset League this year will be starting a new guy at QB. I can't remember the last time that happened (if it ever has).

The supporting casts will be more important than ever.

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

5’11”-6’ is now considered tall for a top QB? O’Conner was 6’2”-6’3”. Garbers is the same height already. Angelovic is 5’11”-6’ tall. That’s not exactly “close.” I didn’t call the kid a midget, but by top QB standards, he is short. Not too short, but short nonetheless. Can he still have success? Of...

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

So they’re close to the same height... neither are short (which was the purpose of my post)... What ever happened to the Freshman QB from Los Al in 2016? I heard he broke his leg and missed all or most of his sophomore season. Is he back on the field? He looked like he had a lot of potential as a fr...

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

Fan & FlexD, You might want to pump the brakes on Angelovic. Short, first year starter. What is the definition of “short”? He is not as tall as O’Connor, but he doesn’t seem short. He’s gotta be at least 6 feet tall. Looks to be about the same height as Garbers. Either way, “short” doesn’t seem...

Re: 2018 Battle at the Beach Passing Tournament

It was happening with most every team that day. Total disrespect coming out of these kids mouths and nothing being done by their PREMIER PROGRAM COACHES OR PARENTS. Like i said 7 on 7 is way out of control and schools have forgotton what this is really for, not all this drama. I must have missed al...

Re: 2018 Battle at the Beach Passing Tournament

More than 1 td the whole day? I’m sure they did. Olu looked good on O and played them in the semis. However, I don’t know the score. I believe MD, Olu, MV, and Edison were the top seeds out of their respective brackets. Valencia looked good as well from what I saw (beat SJB in pool play from what I ...

Never thought of that. Great for him! Unless, of course, he’s replaced by yet another transfer.

Re: Any more transfers to speak about?

I don’t feel too bad for La Habra because they have benefited from being on the other end of the transfer rule plenty of times. I feel bad for the MD LB that has been working hard and committed for 3 years that was going to get a shot under some very very unfortunate circumstances (I’ve heard nothin...

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

HB and Newport Mesa have the same basic open enrollment rules within their district boundaries. If you decide before 9th grade it’s pretty wide open as long as there is available space at the school. Since CDM has a smaller campus they may not have as many openings. But I’m sure they would find some...
