Re: MD LOSES MVP

Yep! Very few publics have a dedicated strength coach... and it is not the stone ages.

Re: Santa Ana (MD 4-vert)

The players too! Maybe they'd be more likely to pick up a basketball, baseball, tennis racquet, etc.
Playing other sports and getting away from 7 on 7 would make them better football players in the fall in my humble opinion.

Re: Santa Ana (MD 4-vert)

They play wherever they get the best pitch from an "elite" (or substitute your favorite adjective) 7 on 7 coach, where they will likely be schooled in the art of trash talk and and over-celebrating/taunting. We know there is very little loyalty among high profile players in our area. Nice ...

Re: The Booty's move on...

I guess the grass wasn't greener. Hats off to Garbers for staying loyal to his local school. I heard rumors that he was thinking of transferring (I have no idea if there was truth to them). But, he stayed loyal, worked harder and it payed off. He had a monster year and is now a committed Huskie... A...

Re: 2019 NFHS Football Rule Changes

[b] A change in the definition of a legal scrimmage formation was approved. A legal scrimmage formation now requires at least five offensive players on their line of scrimmage (instead of seven) with no more than four backs. The committee noted that this change will make it easier to identify legal...

Re: South Coast League 2019

I heard that the Capo admin is really actively recruiting a new head coach not just waiting for the applications to roll in on their own. If this is true they'll find a quality coach the will likely end up teaching at Capo as well. It may take longer but should payoff in the long haul.

Re: Congrats Costa Mesa HS!

595890 HB Unified has open borders and most of Costa Mesa and Estancia’s best athletes cross the Hamilton or Adam’s river channel to Edison, not Cdm/Harbor. Not sure what is meant by "open borders", but HB district boundaries do not extend into Costa Mesa, nor do many Costa Mesa High/Esta...

Re: Congrats Costa Mesa HS!

They had a good coach this last season. Lack of support from the schools administration goes a long way.

Re: 2019 Sunset D2/D3

If I'm not mistaken, FV has 3 former head football coaches (2 from FV, 1 from Costa Mesa) teaching on their campus right now. They may want to try to recruit one of those guys (I'm not sure if any of them would be interested).

Top half of the league was young (especially CDM and Edison) CDM has 9 All-League underclassmen returning (2 big awards, 3 1st teamers, 4 2nd teamers) Los Al has 5 All-League underclassmen returning (2 1st teamers, and 3 2nd teamers) Edison has 8 All-League underclassmen returning (2 1st teamers, an...

Re: Private Schools Expanding Their Special Education Programs?

Special education is very very expensive. Private schools have stayed away from it because it doesn't fit the business model. It's just too expensive no implement, and that doesn't include all of the legal responsibilities that come with it.

Re: OC's Best Publics, MV, SC, CDM, LA, VP, LH, CV....

I'm making an assumption here... I have no evidence in any form to back this up. But, common sense would dictate that some, many, or most high profile athletes at MD are paying reduced tuition, no tuition, or some sort of delayed tuition. Or someone else is paying some or all of their tuition. I'm s...

I agree with Bick. It's tough to tell by the photo. If we had replay the ruling on the field would likely "stand" but not be "confirmed".

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

Los Al-Edison was an old-school, hard-nosed, 4-quarter Sunset League football game. Fun to watch. Both teams will be a little sore going into the playoffs.

Re: 2018 Sunset League/DII/DIII

The sunset league rules requires varsity games on weeknights to start at 7pm. Where can you find the Sunset League rules? I’ve heard from a reliable source that the league rules don’t allow for a tie in league play, and if CDM and Los Al tie they will have to play a California tie breaker per leagu...
