Re: What is it about Mater Dei?

I've also said that the only alumni group in OC better than Mater Dei's is USC's...big advantage if you are going to live and work in OC.

Re: What is it about Mater Dei?

my daughter shadowed at Mater Dei and absolutely loved the place (as do I)-the reason she didn't go there was that it is 35 minutes door to door without traffic, and when you have JSerra only 8 minutes from the house (which she has been very happy at) the choice was easy. If we were 15 minutes or le...

Re: Coaches Resigning

any word on who the JSerra QB will be next fall? Or did one of the two already transfer there?

If anything Bosco would join the CAA and play with the LA County Catholic schools-and Crean would move in (making it 6 teams for both boys and girls sports).

Re: Coaches Resigning

maybe Bosco goes into CAA (LA)-Crean comes in-makes it 6 teams for both boys and girls sports (only 5 girls teams now since St. Josephs, Bosco's sister school, didn't make the move into the TL 10 years ago and is not interested in doing it now, even though their girls BB team could be a real powerho...

Re: "The Lid is Off"! ~ LA Times {Transfers}

if he was a poor coach then why are players transferring to JSerra (and coaches from places like Mater Dei want to assist him) ?

Re: "The Lid is Off"! ~ LA Times {Transfers}

know of a coach in OC who tends to have kids leave the program early due to demanding nature. You hear lots of moaning from both parents and players behind the scenes. Yet-the kids who stick it out tend to have good outcomes in college (whether or not they play sports at the next level). Maybe the p...

Re: 2018 Free agency

Actually Ginger public school teachers in South Orange County Districts are very well paid. Experienced teachers in Saddleback Valley District make over 100 thousand a year. I guess they are able to afford private education by setting priorities in their budgets. In many cases the teaching salary i...

Re: 2018 Free agency

Liberalism is definitely a factor in why my daughter went to a TL HS. A lot less (I wouldn't say none) compared to a public HS-and in south OC the public schools are definitely an option if the PC factor isn't there. I figure that HS is the last chance to get things taught "my way" before ...

what I find amazing that Mater Dei's run has come in a league where most of their competition has one or more future D-1 players on their rosters.

McKnight can coach....made necessary adjustments at halftime to take out JSerra. Rodman and Mensah non-factors in 2nd half.

Re: 2018 Free agency

Actually the JS location and campus are not the plus one would think. It isn't the pain in the rear to get to in the way that SM is, the exit ramp there is terrible and it is pretty far south in the county with no great access to nearby counties for additional support (the trek from Long Beach or t...

Omar, My solution is to play the championship game at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Mustang Stadium. Seats 20,000, Halfway between the bay area and Socal. Great weekend getaway and cool stadium on Campus. Lots of Hotels and restaurants. Seems kind of silly to hold a game over 400 miles away from the lar...

Re: Public and Private D1

Regardless of the name of the school, it's exactly what they did-build a new HS as the centerpiece of a planned urban development. It also had major financial backing that built some of the best athletic facilities of any high school in the country (including an on-campus stadium that attracted play...
