Re: Servite schedule

It's all D12 teams and below if my memory serves me correctly. I know Verbum Dei was one of them, and there were a couple of CS teams. Bellflower HS as well.

As far as the Servite freshmen, they have the skills but the linemen need work right now.

Re: Any more transfers to speak about?

You know how you segregate club teams and give the game back to the schools...? CREATE CLUB BALL. It practically exists in 7on7 already, its just the next logical step. Every county could easily field 2 or 3 teams and they could all play one another. Gatorade and Under Armour and Adidas and ESPN wou...

Re: Any more transfers to speak about?

This may eventually go intra-state play....... if many or most schools refuse to schedule these uber teams they will have to look elsewhere for games and competition... they will ramp it up get even more exposure and more money will come to the high school game.. FOX SPORTS here we come! I keep say...

Re: Any more transfers to speak about?

Why does color of skin or nationality matter? I have asked this question over the years and no one who makes these comments ever bothers to explain why this matters. Not ONCE.

Who are the QBs? I was under the impression they all left. Caden Bell went to JSerra. Who stayed?

Re: OC Buckeye camp at Servite

If TT plays his cards right, he should be able to keep the majority of OC Buckeyes coming in the Servite program for years to come.

Re: No more playing not true high schools

Omar; My solution to the problem is club football. I believe there's enough money and interest at the HS level to establish this system, locally, regionally, and even nationally. Get these high end superstar athletes that seek to build their sport careers out of the high schools and into specialized...

Re: No more playing not true high schools

I believe the term "mercenary athlete" was coined during the Olympics maybe 2004 or 2008. The concept is this: athletes who compete for countries for whom they've had little to zero affiliation. For instance, Jordan Clarkson of the Lakers. He was born in Florida, grew up in Texas, went to college in...

"Real" students = All the non-mercenaries.

Does that clear it up for everyone? Great. Carry on.

Re: No more playing not true high schools

I see your point, but it doesn't do much for me. I root for those representing the name on the front of the jersey. A club team made up of players with nothing in common but a love of playing the game, is not enough to interest me. I've never been big on all-star teams, or all-star games like the P...

A full-on club environment would remove that transfer/recruiting/mercenary element out of high school football altogether. Purists should be all for it.

It always puzzles me why folks get up in arms over high schools supposedly profiting off the backs of athletes when colleges have been doing it forever.

Re: No more playing not true high schools

I'm not sure why people continue to think of the CIF as some kind of independent legislature that makes it's own decisions and writes its own rules. It's not. It is the administrative and enforcement entity of the state's member high schools that it represents. All it's rules and decisions reflect ...

If anything, this sort of thing will push the all-out club format more than it will dissuade it. No one likes being told what to do. The CIF is cooking its own goose with each passing year.

Dumb rule. Why does the CIF even care who a team plays in the preseason? If teams want to play IMG, let them.

Re: OC Buckeyes to enroll at Servite instead of Los Al?

I submit to you that the Trinity league is a reflection of the national culture in the US. It's not just high school sports that's “gone wrong.” We are obsessed with winning in everything, but in our culture, often we don't stop with winning: we go on to crush all opposition. That can be seen over ...

Re: New Servite Offensive Coordinator

Servite certainly appeared to be going with the cheapest alternatives available, but you gotta pay to play in the Trinity. So hopefully this latest hire is a great sign. Any chance they can bring Prohaska back?
