Final Thoughts

So JQP, am I the extreme one for saying that Obama is extreme? Well, extreme is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I do think that the current administration is as far left as any. I wasn't around for FDR, he was the founder of the progressive movement, but clearly Clinton, Carter and Kennedy were ...

Re: Bachmann:the Gift That Keeps On Giving!

Of course it answers the question but if I have to spell it out then so be it. Barack Obama lies all the time. He does so to defend himself so that he can continue his agenda and maintain as much power as possible. Had he and the Dems been truthful about the content of Obamacare and goings on in Ben...

Re: Bachmann:the Gift That Keeps On Giving!

"I'm your Huckleberry." I will tell you why Barack, Joe and Hillary are so extreme. It's because, in essence, they don't care about America as much as they care about their power over America. Barack has openly lied many times. Joe stated during the debates that "we wish you all would just go away"....

Re: McNider and ChristyWhy Kerry Is Flat Wrong on Climate Ch

I am not confused about anything Ford, except your conclusions. And I am not confused about what they are, just how they were derived. You have posted many times that the science on climate change is conclusive. You also stated that those who oppose such a conclusion are circle jerks of misinformers...

And my part in this discussion is that I am part of a circle jerk of misinformers?

And you guys are public school teachers?

Seriously.

So you guys are here to tell me that gravity is only a theory, but the science on climate change is settled.

Gravity is just a theory?

I know it's off topic your honor, but this question goes to the credibility of the poster.

Re: McNider and ChristyWhy Kerry Is Flat Wrong on Climate Ch

Ford you speak passionately about this issue. "Blown out of proportion" really? I am curious, given your certainty of the "fact" of anthropogenic global warming (let's cut the crap on the climate change euphemism), what is your knowledge base/credentials in this area? Have you read and studied all t...

Re: Poll: Only 79% of Obama voters would vote for him again

Good points Fordie, but I am not sure...a 10 point swing between the two (20% of roughly 50%) is a big big swing. But agreed, we don't know the change at the electoral level. My point is that, without the outright lies, the results would have been very different. And if the guy at the very top is al...

Re: Poll: Only 79% of Obama voters would vote for him again

Obama won re-election by a few points. If he were to have lost one of every five votes he got as this poll apparently suggests, he would have lost, would he not? He won by a small fraction, and had he told the truth, about either of the ACA or Benghazi, he would have lost by a few points. So JQ, I t...

If Obama hadn't lied about the effects of the ACA, he would have lost in 2012. It's that simple.

Re: Question for Dems No. 2 - Budget Deficits

Thanks again, MDDad and Wabash too, because this thread is wrapping up beautifully. Dad, I think you meant to say "a solution that will fly economically and politically". We can do one, or the other, but not both. And Wabash posts the natural response, which is that the Republicans dare not defy the...

Re: Question for Dems No. 2 - Budget Deficits

You are right again, MDDad. People refuse to take into account how large the deficits and unfunded liabilities really are. It's easy to get numb when you talk about a trillion dollars. I don't think I had heard of "a trillion" until our debt got there, and I thought it was a staggering number then. ...

Re: Question for Dems No. 2 - Budget Deficits

Thanks MDDad, that is well said. Thelma and Louise would indeed be proud. Remember, "D" is forward and Thelma and Louise opted for "D"eath rather than not living well enough. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans in power want to deal with $50-$100 trillion head on, cutting budgets and austerity...

Re: Question for Dems No. 2 - Budget Deficits

Dude, what part of Detroit do you not understand? The private sector doesn't have that much money. The 1% is already paying like 65% of the freight, and the rest of us don't have guaranteed government jobs, salaries, pensions, and benefits. And what money is left will run for cover before you get th...

Spoken like 15 girls that just maxed out the credit cards their dad gave them to teach them about money.

Re: Question for Dems No. 2 - Budget Deficits

A couple more thoughts on this for all to consider: I commented earlier on the dangers of the Federal Reserve in setting monetary policy, and commented that they were the main perpetrator in the housing bubble and crisis. No one here said much if anything, and since the typical Republican vs Democra...

Re: Question for Dems No. 2 - Budget Deficits

Ding ding! I'm with SBH and couldn't have said it better. I think the government needs to be smaller. I'm with Vile too, I think there are big savings to be had in the defense budget. Make Congress do it's law making job, and we don't need the EPA, or the Department of Education. Then we can start r...

Re: Question for Dems No. 2 - Budget Deficits

On of the differences between us Wabash is that because of my disappointment with the status quo, I did not vote for Bush a second time. I have not voted for an incumbent since I don't when.

On the other hand, I am guessing you voted at least twice for Obama.
