Re: Non CIF Football This Year?

I'm so fired up with the decision to play a full season. Practice on Christmas will be special. My students are all fired up because they are not losing their senior year. Try not to rain their parade. Maybe 1% of the players will enroll early in college or move to play in another state.

Re: Non CIF Football This Year?

Most districts have between 19 and 20 weeks, not including Spring Break, so you could expand it a bit.

Re: Non CIF Football This Year?

The plan I saw was 2 preseason games, 5 league, plus playoffs with no state tourney.

Re: Transfer News? It’s that time of year again!

How is it contradictory? Role players at Mater Dei could be really good or "stars" at other schools. So parents should not send their kids to Mater Dei unless they are able to play at that level. Makes perfect sense to me.

Re: Transfer News? It’s that time of year again!

I couldn't agree with Professor Fate more. You have to be the one of the best players at your position in the state if not the country. The role players and special teamers at Mater Dei would be stars at most schools in the County. If you made a team out of Mater Dei's 3rd string, you could probably...

Many teams are having online meetings to discuss schemes and training progress as well.

Re: A world without sports

Most of the kids are working out every day. We normally come off a 3 week break, do 3 days of conditioning, and then put the pads on. That's the normal way of doing things. We have an intra-squad scrimmage the second Saturday, scrimmage the third, and game time on the fourth Saturday.

Re: A world without sports

Why do you need a month before pads? 3 days conditioning is the norm for fall camp.

Re: A world without sports

As long as they give the go ahead by August 1 or so, High School Football will be fine. They did it like that for many years and still do in some states and areas. I suggest, and it's not my original idea, that we start school and football after Labor Day like the old days for at least one year. I p...

Re: 2020 Football Schedules

I think the teams that will be ahead will be the one's with the best coaching staffs and most talent. The one's that do not adapt and complain and make excuses will fail. The might be some glaring differences.

Re: 2020 Football Schedules

This is what I was trying to say earlier. Let's give some time before we start throwing dirt on the season or parts of the season. We could also push the start of football and/or the start of school to where it used to be after Labor Day. I'm not worried about conditioning as much, as I have seen ma...

Re: 2020 Football Schedules

I have never heard a coach say I wish we had more spring or summer practice to prepare. I still think there is a chance we are back to a fairly normal existence by August. I could be wrong.

Re: 2020 Football Schedules

Coach Anthony White @CoachAWhite What I believe and propose will happen... If no green light by July 1st. What does Coach White have to do with any of this? I believe we should prepare for the season as though we will have a full season. We owe it to the seniors to work hard in what ever capacity w...

A 6'4" Running Back? Hurtado at Cypress is the tallest back I've seen at about 6'2". 6'4" is huge for a RB although I'm sure he is being recruited as a OLB at that size.

They aren't 12 team leagues. They are 12 team conference where 6 are up and 6 are down and play 5 games in league with the top 3 being automatic qualifiers.

Re: Super Conferences

I agree with that last part. That's why CIF Championships have less value. The players and student body have no idea who they are playing so it carries far less weight. Maybe 6 team leagues make more sense, at least in a two year cycle. I liked regional championships better. Orange County should be ...
