Re: Mater Dei vs. St. John Bosco V

Did anyone catch Bruce’s postgame interview with Steve Fryer of the OC Register?? I’m concerned coach doesn’t have much time left. I actually felt sorry for him admitting not being able to recall what happened during the game. It’s been obvious for awhile that he’s no longer coaching and more of a f...

Re: What California QB is more accomplished than Bryce Young?

This thread didn’t age well. Again, BY was a fantastic HS talent but all this talk about the “most accomplished ever” or best in school history was ridiculous. Kid was surrounded by D1 players at EVERY single position on offense. I can count on ONE hand the QB’s in CA State history that have had tha...

Re: What California QB is more accomplished than Bryce Young?

Please people. Please. BY is a fine QB and could turn out to be one of the finest we've ever seen but can you tell me what QB in CA State History has had more D1 players on his team playing with him (on both sides of the ball) than the last two QB's at Mater Dei and St. John Bosco?? These 4 QB's (BY...

Re: Will a Public HS Ever Win a D1 Football Title Again?

Think about this FACT in considering whether or not another public school will ever win the D1 Title again in football. There are more football players with D1 offers LIVING in the Inland Empire playing for Mater Dei than for Corona Centennial. THAT is unbelievable and the new dynamic in So Cal HS F...

Re: Mater Dei v St John Bosco - Trinity League Super Bowl 2019

In the rematch I see LB Poly cleaning up the penalties and beating Eisenhower by 21 minimum. Jackrabbits should have been up by 28 at the half. Ike simply doesn't have the horses this year.

LB Poly is too good. Eisenhower still fighting to keep it close.

Re: Will a Public HS Ever Win a D1 Football Title Again?

You will NEVER see a public school in D1 Final again much less win the Championship. Poly is done. CC is done. MV would be the only public school program with a legitimate shot at the big prize. Mater Dei and Bosco are the new LB Poly, CC and Eisenhower of years past. Mater Dei does NOT start a SING...

Re: MD vs St John's

I remember watching MD and Groots playing Poly for D1 Title. Today's MD team bares no resemblance to those MD teams. In fact, Bruce's team in 2019 looks like the Poly teams he used to play against in the 90's. No Catholics playing for MD anymore. Poly Football players in MD uniforms in 2019.

Mater Dei doesn't start a SINGLE white player on their offense for the very first time in school history.

Re: Bryce Young Flips to Bama

So why did BY commit to SC in the first place? He knew the coaching situation wasn't stable when he verbally committed back in the summer. He knew SC was NO WHERE NEAR the football program Alabama was when he gave Coach Helton his verbal commitment. None of that has changed. Helton is still on the h...

Re: Bryce Young Flips to Bama

Has nothing to do with SC's current uncertainty at HC. This was a business decision made once JT was lost for the season AND more importantly, once Kedon Slovis became a legitimate contender for the SC QB position for the next several seasons. Daniels and Slovis will now compete for the starting job...

Re: MD vs CC Friday, Cannot be as bad as last year

For anyone in attendance last night, the evening and more importantly high school football as we know it could have been summed up by the halftime entertainment. The Mater Dei "National Champion" All Male Hip Hop Dance Team. A complete and TOTAL GOD DAMN JOKE!!! Who knew when way back then that when...

Re: MD vs CC Friday, Cannot be as bad as last year

The Inland Empire Kick Off Classic in Santa Ana tonight. I'll be there. MD side has certainly changed in the past 5 years. Different crowd. Somewhat entertaining yet unbearable embarrassing with all the **** talking they do from the stands. IMG West in a blow out tonight. Catholics kids in red shoul...

Re: 2011 Santa Margarita Eagles - Last Legitimate D1/Pac5 Champion?

I’ve wondered that myself sometimes, Domingo. I think there two kids who did not enroll as freshman on the team. One was a wide receiver and the other was a back up running back, both sophomores. When that class of 2012 initially enrolled, the Santa Margarita varsity had been in a slump for several...

Re: 2011 Santa Margarita Eagles - Last Legitimate D1/Pac5 Champion?

No clue RPW. I don't think I've even seen a player's religion on their bio. Back to my question sir. Are you not offended by the notion that minorities need the 'ol Catholic Church for a "good education"? You seem to be concerned about racism being spewed on this board, did that comment not offend y...

I love you Red but... I’m failing to see the racism. Regardless of a posters perceived history, that’s a serious and quite personal accusatory stretch for the observations shared in the referenced post. Race and Religion aside, you and I both know that the quote from Humphreys, whether he actually ...

Re: 2011 Santa Margarita Eagles - Last Legitimate D1/Pac5 Champion?

That being said though, in all the negative news I think it's important to remember that these school are also giving lower income and minority students the opportunity to get a great education and the chance to play football (and other sports) at a very high level. For all the stories we hear of p...

2011 Santa Margarita Eagles - Last Legitimate D1/Pac5 Champion?

Santa Margarita beat San Clemente in the CIF Pac5 Final that season with a team of great local Santa Margarita players including QB Johnny Stanton. That Eagles team lost 2 league games (Mater Dei and Servite) and barely beat SJB by 8 points. Every league game was a battle and schools weren't shuttli...

Re: Transfer News? It’s that time of year again!

I was talking to Ben Humphreys at the Mission Tournament this past weekend as he was there to watch his younger brother play. I asked him he was rooting for and he said he told me that he was pulling for his brother. I asked him why his brother John hadn't followed in his footsteps to Mater Dei and ...
