Re: San Clemente accused of racism....

All that's missing from this story is that the San Clemente students were wearing MAGA hats. Was Jussie Smolett in attendance?

Re: Rollinson's Last Season

OCmom, many on this board saw it coming. Last minute transfers that did not have any connection to the MD tradition and did not care about the supposed Mission of the school only had one purpose in their transferring to MD. That was to get a ring and move on. Even Steve Fryer was understanding that ...

Re: CIF-SS committee will look at potential changes to transfer rules 2019

I know its hard to believe for some on this board, but maybe people don't care as much anymore for high school football. If you can only get 4,800 people for the MD/ DLS championship, I think it tells quite a bit that the prefab teams have made the average fan lose interest.

Re: Pipeline of players

Yes, Danny O'Neil, Matt Leinert were there before Barkley. MD QB's pipeline has been there much longer .
Agree, Billy Blanton was the most fun to watch.

Re: Mater Dei vs. De La Salle

4,800 attendance? The rise of these Pre-fab, Youth Football Graduate academies have sapped any interest from those not associated directly with those individual schools. The CIF did everything they could do to attact fans, free parking, Saturday night, In LA County. Next year they will have to give ...

Re: How did this all start?

Ill be curious to see what the attendance is at this years Game. It appears with the rise of the super teams, interest from the General population is less and less This game used to be played at the Coliseum or Anaheim Stadium, the way it is going,in the future it will be played at Boscos' 5,000 sea...

Re: Bosco vs Mater Dei

I understand the sentimental nature of seeing the end of High School Sports as we know it, really I do...But the new reality is pretty exciting, and gives many kids the ability to shine on the national level...HS Sports is big money now... It gives the schools and programs the ability to generate r...

Discipline problems? One of his players must have put on a ski mask after a game.

Re: You ask why Mater Dei is a destination

MD works with more than 25 community groups and let's more than 17 outside groups use their facilities.

Like most established Catholic high schools , The surrounding communities have issues ( i.e. Loyola, St. Paul, Salisian.)
They too serve their communities.

Re: You ask why Mater Dei is a destination

I will criticize MD for the current football transfer situation, but you can't slam MD for its standing and contributions to the local Community. There was talk 20 years ago to moving the campus to Costa Mesa or Irvine, but the Diocese and the MD administration made a conscious effort to stay IN San...

Re: Servite's Next Football Coach

Does anyone know what Happened at Crespi? They were the true dumpster fire the last few years. I thought Thomas was trying to build the true " Crespi Man" which sent kids transferring out. I just don't see the upside here for him professionally or for Servite.
