Re: 2011 Santa Margarita Eagles - Last Legitimate D1/Pac5 Champion?
Yes Fisher was an outstanding offensive coach but he had no clue about defense and never found the defensive coaches he needed. If he only had Coach Vieselmyer as his defensive coordinator they may have had a chance. SM scored more Pts that season than any other team against MD but gave up 70 if I ...

Re: 2011 Santa Margarita Eagles - Last Legitimate D1/Pac5 Champion?
The day Norwood transferred in, SM lost both McClain brothers to transfer (JSerra), we had also lost Muro to Mater Dei that year and many others. To put in perspective how special the 2017 team could have been with some ballers/defense: The 2011 Team total offense through 15 games was: Total Yards G...

Re: 2011 Santa Margarita Eagles - Last Legitimate D1/Pac5 Champion?
Man, I am still stinging from that loss. We set all kinds of offensive records that night and still lost. Give us some defensive weapons and we would have tried to make history (We probably should’ve played Malone Matale on defense once we let that WR break the record for T.D. receptions). All I am ...

Re: 2011 Santa Margarita Eagles - Last Legitimate D1/Pac5 Champion?
The 2017 SM team with QB Josiah Norwood was special. John McCartan, Chad Magyar, Cade Fitch, Mark Eaton, Jordan Tollenor, Jake Peters and the gang were legit. We lost a dozen high star recruits to transfer, yet had our most competitive year in the Trinity League since the 2011 CIF championship. #vot...

Re: Best High School QB ever from O.C.?
@trilianharris1 is the transfer. He is still at SM. Kid is supposed to be nice. I only heard of them losing the offensive coordinator to USC. Josiah turned down 4 D1 offers (1 FBS, 3 FCS) to take a preferred walk on QB spot close to home (UCLA.) It’s a bold move, but extremely proud of his grit and ...

Re: Best High School QB ever from O.C.?
Great coaches, great men don’t just go through anything, they GROW through it. Don’t sleep on Coach Fish and SM. He runs a college program in High School and is a great mentor for young student athletes. Last year, SM lost Calcaterra to graduation, the McClain Brothers, Funa and some other top guys ...

Re: Best High School QB ever from O.C.?
FrankieBoy - Thanks for the Norwood mentioned. Humbled to even be considered with some of these great QBs. SWLGenie - Yes, we have taught Josiah, football is a team sport, but the qb and coach still carry the wins and losses. We have explained if you want to be great you must embrace this. That loss...

North led 10-7 at half, then came out of the half scoring 14 points in the 3rd quarter and keeping the South offense limited ...

Thank you!
This is the final high school curtain call for @josiah_norwood, QB, 2018, Santa Margarita. Senior SZN: 2928 yards, 28 TDs We hate his team was knocked out early, but are immensely grateful for the opportunity Coach Fisher and staff gave him to lead the team. Thanks for all those that supported his s...

Re: Trinity First/Second Team
Just so I understand, the Trinity coaches don’t vote beyond Offensive Player of the Year (e.g. for 1st and 2nd team all league?)
The coaches name their all league players?
Also, for Trinity, is there a 1.) League MVP and 2.) League Offensive/Defensive MVP?

Re: SM V J. SERRA - Predictions??
My heart is still racing from last night. It was a gutsy call to go for two and the right one. JSerra is a powerful offense and had a strong student body section last night. But the 12th man for the Eagles was its student section. SM had 11 buses take students to the game and they were huge for the ...

Re: SM - Bosco
It was a great game. SM commited 4 turnovers (incl pick-6), missed a FG, gave up a safety and still only lost by two.
Every possession counts against a team like this and the above stat alone demonstrates how good SM looks and is growing as a program.
Next test: JSerra.
Should be fun.
