Re: Boston Marathon explosions

You are the only person I've heard that thinks that if police are vigilant enough they can detect and prevent 100% of attempted crime/terror.

What do you think they could/should have done to detect the attack?

Re: Boston Marathon explosions

When someone is in charge of security at an event and an attack occurs, they failed because they allowed the attack to occur. That is not even close to blaming them for the attack, just noting their failure to detect it before the bombs go off. If security gets credit for thwarting an attack, it sh...

I disagree. I think Harry had it right:

Re: Everything you know about austerity is wrong

To which "their" are you referring? I thought I made it clear in my post that I thought presidents and congressional majorities of both parties lack the political balls to reduce spending when it is no longer needed as an economic stimulus. Is it possible that in your haste to respond in your usual...

Re: Everything you know about austerity is wrong

Unfortunately, the deficits continue even once the economy is "back on its feet", because our presidents and congresses don't have the political balls to reduce discretionary spending when it is no longer needed to keep the economy afloat. Instead of a sweeping generalization, how about we look at ...

IMO it means going on a starvation diet to get back to your ideal weight relatively quickly instead of a slow, steady lifestyle change that will take longer but get you to the same place in a healthier, more sustainable manner.

Re: Philadelphia Abortion Clinic 'Beheaded Live Babies'

Who cares who's "pulling the trigger", Red? How is that important? Point is that when it comes to what is considered "newsworthy", pretty much everything is filtered through ratings/profit-tinted glasses by the media. Oh, and when it comes to what is considered "outrageworthy", pretty much everythin...

We (America) killed 10 Afghani children with a drone strike the other day. Blew them into little bitty pieces. But apparently there wasn't enough rightwing outrage over it to make that "newsworthy" either.

I read that many North Koreans' growth is stunted because they barely get enough to eat, but it doesn't look like those girls are missing many meals. Are they heading to or from the bibimbap buffet?
