Re: Jerry Brown deals with a water crisis his father created

BevBrooke: Is that why the Keystone pipeline will be above ground? Water, like other stuff, flows downhill unless a great deal of energy is expended to move it uphill. Propose an underground pipeline to move water from the coast to Central California to an engineer and see how long it takes f...

BrookeBevNoDoubtBJMac: I guess the answer to my question about your willingness to be friendly is a resounding "No." How sad. :(

Re: Cutting a fetus from the womb.

BrookeBevBJMacNoDoubt: Given that I deal with the law all of the time, I am aware of the deficiencies in the statutes and how to exploit loopholes. So long as the punishment is appropriate, who cares what the crime is called? You have yet to answer that question other than on an emotional basis. PS ...

Re: Jerry Brown deals with a water crisis his father created

A low flow toilet uses a little less than a gallon per flush. Do you want to pay a little less than you do for a gallon of gas just to flush the toilet? Desalination (while costly) on the coast will cut down on the need for Northern and Central California water as well as that from the Colorado Rive...

Re: Why Lock The Off Topic Thread?

BrookeBevBJMacNoDoubt: You wonder why nobody wants to have a chat with you, yet when your posts above are read it is obvious why. Stop trying to bludgeon people with your views and instead try to engage them in a conversation. Listen (read) more than you say (post) and you might get somewhere with p...

He started out with good intentions but got lost in the prosperity doctrine along the way.

Re: Cutting a fetus from the womb.

BrookeBwevBJMacNoDoubt: You want the title of the crime to reflect what was done. That's an emotional response and, as Fordama correctly points out, might lead to prosecution problems.
So long as the punishment is appropriate, who cares what it is called?

Re: Jerry Brown deals with a water crisis his father created

BevBrooke: The costs of pumping natural gas (in its gaseous state) and water (in its liquid state) are vastly different. It is much cheaper to pump natural gas. Lest you raise the Keystone pipeline issue, think of the financial return of oil versus water. Do you want to pay for water at rates approa...

Be careful of what you say, MDDad. You might have to reluctantly acknowledge (yet again) that we agree with each other.

If you are the operator of a vehicle (boat, plane, truck, car, motorcycle, bicycle, etc) of a common carrier and you are deemed unfit of performing your job (for whatever reason), your employer should be notified forthwith and the employer must prohibit you from operating the vehicle. It is not a pe...

Re: Cutting a fetus from the womb.

As a lawyer, I am in agreement with the "bright line" analysis. I don't practice criminal law, but I constantly have to evaluate events and circumstances and the setting of a "bright line" allows for everybody to know when something is actionable or not. In this case, I am divided on the status of a...

BevBrookeBJMacNoDoubt: Given your refusal to answer a simple question, I am guessing that you don't want to have a serious discussion about extradition treaties with countries that you believe have a justice system that is a joke. Why are you passing up the opportunity to have a serious discussion? ...

Re: Only good looking in the news.

BrookeBev: This thread has gone beyond the hot murderess. You have your emotional investment in her (for what reason I do not know) and I really don't care either way. It does, however, make her a little sexier if she is thought to be dangerous. Had Italy's highest reviewing court upheld the guilty ...
