What's your commute like? How bad is it?
Can anyone top this?
Las Flores (Oso and Antonio) to El Segundo, five days a week. Up at 450, out the door at 530, catch a vanpool (at least I don't drive) at Laguna Hills Mall, arrive at work at 645, catch the van at 435, get back to the mall around 6PM, home around 615.

How did Mission Viejo ever make it?
Today Mission Viejo is a desirable place to live with jobs not too far away. It pretty much started the South Orange County, master planned community lifestyle. But, in the mid 1960s when Mission Viejo got started, the nearest jobs were probably in Long Beach, and Anaheim and Huntington Beach - a lo...

Is Boeing Leaving Southern California?
Anaheim is just about closed (those who are left are on their way to Huntington Beach). Huntington Beach is laying off lots of people as GMD, FCS, and other huge programs have either moved elsewhere or have been canceled. Seal Beach rarely has an open req these days except for one job that looks lik...

Re: What's the big deal with iPods?
My iPod has WiFi, stores photos and movies My kids have the iPod touch - maybe same thing you have - and yes the wifi is sort of nice but surfing with such a small screen isn't very easy. I have a mini laptop - fits in my backpack and it also has 3G so I can surf in the vanpool. But seriously, befo...

Re: The OC Register--The Worst Major Metro Newspaper on Eart
The only thing I don't like is one (of two) reader comments interfaces. One reader comments interface (the one I like) has all the posts and replies cascading on one long web page, sorted with oldest posts at the top - natural. It is the interface used by the bloggers like Lasner. The reader comment...

What's the big deal with iPods?
I don't understand why these things are so much more popular than standard MP3 players. iPods don't play WMA, they use iTunes, and they cost more. A regular MP3 player plugs and plays into any PC with no re-syncing hassles and they act like mass storage devices with a music player. You can drag and ...

Re: Property Value Notice
I've never understood prop 13 math. I was told at one point that the prop 13 cap on increases affects this. It isn't whether your home actually went up as far as the marketplace is concerned, it is whether or not the last taxed value is still lower than the market. If there is still a gap, your tax...
