Re: Financial Crisis Was Avoidable, Inquiry Finds

The bubble started in 1997 under Clinton, probably had something to do with him ending a capital gains tax in that year along with the pushes by government to fulfill social injustice goals. This was before Clinton in 1999 pushed Fannie to lower it's standards so that more low-income people could b...

We're the only ones on the planet using fossil fuels... Agreed. For the sake of discussion, assume I don't know it... In what ways does it matter? No one is assuming you do know it. The onus to learn about it and its effects are on you. Most of the young people I meet are self starters when it come...

He's great at hypebole. Not much else. I'll be interested to see how he acts now that he has the responsibility of being in office. Campaigning is one thing, governing is another. The GOP is quickly backing away from many of the promises it made in the runup to the November election. Much like they ...

No kidding. But that would be a million ppm, something we'll never even come minutely close to. According to Geologist Ian Plimer, there isn't enough oil in the world to push CO2 levels to 800 ppm which well below toxic levels for humans. Except humans aren't the only ones on the planet. As Fordama...

He's pretty well known for dirty politicking ... just nothing one can be "caught" for (and even if he was, rumor is he's a made man ... but that's just rumor). He's got a pretty foul mouth, too. Dirty politicking exists on both sides. Like I said earlier it's a contact sport and not for sissies. Ka...

I've read that they are very lenient if were late on your CRA mortgage and also that there were CRA advocacy organizations that could help make loan payments to the people who took out the CRA loans if they were late. This may be one reason why CRA loans didn't default at the same rate as non-CRA l...

Name just one energy source that could replace the whole carbon based system with a little government help.. I don't know. That's why we need to put effort into developing them. The experiences may have been the same, 'twas the conclusions that were vastly different. Doubtful. It sure wasn't...

Sure, the idea of energy independance may be a specific goal.. It's the technology and method of reaching that goal that's real iffy... I don't believe it's iffy. Engineers that work for private companies are usually rewarded for their innovations and sucessful ideas. Engineers who work for the gov...

Nor did anybody claim that the government was not the appropriate sponsor for them. I don't know what you're referring to. Perhaps you have a link to d...
