Stand your Ground Question

I have a question for historians and constitutional lawyers out there. One thing that I found surprising as I followed the Zimmerman case was how did America NOT have stand your ground laws as the norm (i.e. pre-2005)? And how these evolved as a recent phenomenon when you'd think America's history w...

Re: Welch done after 2013

Essentially if you live in the north half of the City of RSM and your zip in 92688 you go to TH, if you live in RSM and your zip is 92679 (the more affluent demographic east of Plano Trabuco Road) you go to Mission.

Re: Welch done after 2013

Wrong about Tesoro there Pally. Below is the link to the Saddleback USD boundary. The areas in brown south of SM go to Tesoro as its a Capo USD school and most of Coto is in the CUSD. The kids in areas in white near SM go to either TH or MV. Using their website if you type in any street name west of...

Re: Welch done after 2013

Robinson Ranch, Walden, Rancho Cielo, Dove Canyon and parts of Coto and RSM are within walking distance of SM but also lie within the Mission attendance boundary even though Trabuco is in most cases considerably closer and easier to get to. These are areas that produce a majority of the SM students ...

Re: Welch done after 2013

Nobody from the existing varsity staff will be retained. All ties to the Welch era will be cut. It's been decided already.

Do you think my announcement several days ago that this will be Welch's last year was a guess or a coincidence? Heck no. Of course I know what's going on Trinity. Geez.

Nobody from the existing SM varsity staff will be retained for 2014 let alone hired as the next HC. Ain't happening.

Re: Fact or Fiction on Servite, MD, MV, SM, SJB

SM will have their hands full this year and although they may finish the non-league portion strong they may fade fast afterward. Carson is a gimme and they should be favored against Dorsey and Trabuco Hills, but that presumes they come out of Corona Centennial, Amat and BG healthy and focused and no...

Re: Fact or Fiction on Servite, MD, MV, SM, SJB

I'd put SM's over under at 3.5 wins with a small but real chance for a 5-5, 2-3 at large entry. This will be Harry's last year at SM. He will go 3-7 or 4-6, resign and resurface at a private program that is trending upward. He'll resurface in 2014 (as a head coach of course) if only because he needs...

Re: Spontaneous memories

Remember, I said relatively down as in where they were in 1997 as compared to where they were as a program up until say 1993 when they were just about as solid as any program in OC and not just D-VI. WB was inexplicably deeper and more talented than Irvine for about three years which led everyone wh...

Re: Spontaneous memories

Woodbridge was absolutely horrible in 1995 and just plain bad in 1996 BUT it was a team loaded with sophomores and on the rise. They started getting somewhat respectable in 1997 and when these kids were seniors by 1998 they were an unbelievable D-VI team. Interestingly, Irvine was relatively down in...

Re: So you want a new Football Stadium

For those of you from South OC who may have went to Shadow Hills HS to see the Mission Viejo JV's a couple seasons ago play La Quinta you saw one of the nicest if not nicest HS venue in California. Shadow Hills is a remote, brand new, smaller division school with a sparkling 6,000 seat stadium and s...

Re: Tribute to the Register coverage

Three comments. first I think the quality and depth or reporting by the OCR is the best in southern California. The LA Times, despite it's readership coverage of 600+ schools leaves me wanting. Big time. Second, in terms of volume of non-print product the SGV Tribune blows the doors off the OCR. The...

Jim Hartigan is not going to FV unless he was unemployed. Voluntarily going to D-VI - and a pay cut to boot? I don't think so.

Re: Horrible Officiating

I agree that over the course of a season, but usually not every game, the penalties tend to be a wash and bad penalties go both ways and affect both teams. However, the problem with officiating is the mismanagement of the play clock (starting it too early after a first down, delay of game at 21 or 2...

Re: Trinity League Play 10/12

I'm reading a lot in this thread about what everything thinks MD's D will be able to do against SM's O but what exactly is MD's O going to do against SM's D? On one hand I'm with Steve Friar on this one. I think that if MD can force a bunch of easy turnovers, (they won't commit any naturally), kick ...

Re: Attention Servite fans

When you check out of this year and plan for '13 and '14 you start underclassmen.

When you start underclassmen you lose to JSerra.

When you lose to JSerra in Trinity League play you get fired.

Don't start underclassmen.

Re: Officiating QA/QC

Zebra, While I appreciate the time you took to reply I'm afraid film review won't address my concerns. To wit, game film is is choppy (from snap to whistle) and doesn't capture the little things that may take place after the whistle. For example most film ends when the ball carrier is down but isn't...

Officiating QA/QC

Board, What recourse do coaches have to address the poor quality of officiating, particularly at the lower levels? In my experience "training" focuses more on how to position yourself during a play and how to identify holding for example, but while penalties tend to be a wash, it's the other things ...

Hey Dippy, Santa Margarita is in South Orange County and is nationally ranked. Credibility is wanting with anyone who deliberately overlooks the Eagles in any list touting South OC pride. Geez!
