Re: OC Varsity Pre-Season Top 10

Think JSerra game is at Moorpark HS, not Moorpark College. You may want to reconfirm.

Re: Will a Public HS Ever Win a D1 Football Title Again?

Lots of new construction in El Toro's attendance area (Baker Ranch). Suspect El Toro is more than full. Trabuco also.

Re: Will a Public HS Ever Win a D1 Football Title Again?

Difference between D-1 and D2-3 is in the trenches. The likes of Oaks/Calabasas have always been a little short in that area compared to a true D-1 program. The MV's, MD's, Boscos, etc. get this-It's also why I think JSerra's future is bright-as long as Harlow's the coach line play will be a primary...

Re: Will a Public HS Ever Win a D1 Football Title Again?

I still say Calabasas is well positioned to eventually do this. Open enrollment with the entire San Fernando Valley (LAUSD) to recruit from.

Re: Week 2 2018 ~ Game Thread

JSerra was about to put the game away 28-7 in the 3rd but an interception on the 10 yard line by Amat led to a furious rally that came up short when they missed a 2 point conversion with 1 minute left.

Amat tough place to play-JSerra got out of there by the skin of their butts.

one more reason-no private high school can raise $60 million for a football stadium, like they do in places like Allen....

Re: Trinity League Over Rated???

OLu will struggle against top opponents because they can't run the ball.

JSerra might well be in the D1 final four if the draw comes out right.

Watching Chris Street for JSerra against Calabasas I shudder to think that he left MD because he'd only be the #3 running back...

MV hasn't played JSerra yet. With Chad Johnson as the coach, I fully expect them to play in the next few years.

Re: Week 1 2018 ~ Game Thread

OLu same problem as last year: can't run the ball. Force Hilinski to leave pocket and he'll spend most of the game on his back-no matter how good his receivers are.

They will lose to JSerra (like they did last year) for the same reason they lost last year. Won't beat MD/Bosco either.

Re: Will a Public HS Ever Win a D1 Football Title Again?

MV and Capo Valley are in different districts (MV in Saddleback Unified, Capo Valley in Capistrano Unified). Harder to move between districts than within districts.

Capo's competing against Tesoro and San Juan Hills (better facilities) for players that don't go to JSerra (1 exit up the freeway).

Calabasas has the whole San Fernando Valley to go after. School shares a border with LA Unified.

same with Calabasas. Ambition is there; open enrollment, wealthy area adjacent to LA Unified.

Up until the Clausens arrived there they were 0-10 or 1-9 every year playing with in-area kids. The Clausens took them to D-2 from the bottom of the barrel.

Re: Will a Public HS Ever Win a D1 Football Title Again?

Even in Texas there are restrictions on transfer (1 year sit out rule). The big 6A schools are huge...competitive equity playoffs like we have here don't exist, and due to the heavy investment in facilities a private school really can't compete (as an example, Jesuit HS (Dallas) and Strake Jesuit (H...
