Re: Smchs basketball coach Jeff reinert resigns

this years team should have. 3 Pac12 recruits; playing at home, greenest MD team in years-yet beat by 30. With two key players who left SM for MD who lived within walking distance of SM to boot.

Re: Servite's Larry Toner finally retires...

I read somewhere that MD's student body was 40% Hispanic and 10% Asian. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Servite's Larry Toner finally retires...

With the construction of the 73 Toll Road Newport Beach and Newport Coast became feeder areas for not only Mater Dei, but JSerra as well. Easier to get to SJC from Newport Coast than it is to Bristol and Edinger. My guess is 15-20% of school comes from this area, and a number of board members live t...

Re: Smchs basketball coach Jeff reinert resigns

Same happened with Fisher in FB-getting spanked by JSerra doesn't go over well at SM.

Re: Servite's Larry Toner finally retires...

The Christian schools in south OC also send plenty of kids to SM/JSerra. Lots of Christian coaches at JSerra in particular. An interesting thing-the south county Christian/private schools (including St Margarets and St Marys) all play in the Parochial Athletic League (the school-based sports league ...

Re: Servite's Larry Toner finally retires...

in south OC the main feeder for SM is St Junipero Serra-1200 kids TK-8th and draws from the 4 parishes south of 133, north of Ortega Highway, and east of 5. The other main feeders aren't even Catholic schools-St Johns Episcopal (RSM) , St Mary's (Aliso Viejo), RSM Intermediate (1700 kids in 3 grades...

Re: Smchs basketball coach Jeff reinert resigns

Agreed that having a team with three high-major D1 seniors playing against the youngest, greenest Mater Dei team in recent memory-and getting spanked at home by 30 with 2 key MD players living within 1/2 mile of SM-isn't the best look. D1 title notwithstanding-it doesn't go down well at SM when you ...

Don't know where you are hearing this-In fact a recent letter by JSerra administration to the parents stated that they have a long waiting list for it's freshman and sophomore classes.

Re: Orange Lutheran baseball season ends on a heartbreaker

Even in the majors-every team will automatically win 40 and lose 40. What your record is in those other 80 is what seperates great from bad. If you go 40-40 in those other 80-you finish .500. If you go 60-20-you win 100 games and have a good chance of winning the World Series.

Re: Orange Lutheran baseball season ends on a heartbreaker

The Royce Lewis JSerra teams never won CIF despite having probably the most dominant overall team for a couple of years. Lost 1-0 in the playoffs twice. That's baseball.

would also love to know the JSerra vs SM head to head this year. Know that on the boys side JSerra won football, basketball and baseball. Also girls soccer and basketball. Did the SM girls bail them out also?

Re: 2018-2019 Trinity League Boys' Champions

SM's boys lacrosse streak won't last beyond the next year or two. The coach who built it (Adam Guy) is now at JSerra.

Re: 2018-2019 Trinity League Boys' Champions

As good as MD's BB program has been, it is still first and foremost a football school.

Same with Servite-in this case BB is weak.

Pretty much applies to the whole TL-each and every one of these schools would trade whatever they win for a state Open Division football championship.

Re: 2019 Football Schedules

Even if they wanted to, they can't. CIF State passed a rule where you can't play a school that doesn't qualify for their Section/State Championship, i.e. IMG, DeMatha (used to have rivalry w/MD basketball stemming back to 1983)... DeMatha plays in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. That q...
