OLU vs. Crespi

Love to play Trinity. Any OLU fans got any insight/opinions to share about Friday's game up here? Doesn't seem like the 21-13 start against Dominguez was too blazing. On the other hand, my boys didn't exacly manhandle Sylmar, and had a bunch of penalties, picking up where they left off last year. I ...

Re: 2015: The Return of the Pro-Style Offense?

A true fan will be engaged in the contrasts of old vs. new, flashy vs. meat and potatoes. Through the years (decades, yikes), my most memorable contests to watch have featured this contrast, and having the young men adapt/overcome on the fly. It's a great chess match with lots of different strategie...

Re: Bosco Spring Showcase Video

All I know is that 9/18 is cleared away for a trip down to Bellflower. Very excited Crespi scheduled this game. Though I hear the stands might be a little dicey. They were last time I was at SJB, to watch Tim Lins' Celts battle the Braves in the late 90's. Splinters in my ass are one thing, but I do...

Trinity FLB wrote: "The OL that went to Crespi was a starter as a sophomore and will be a starter there" Word is he's headed back to SJB. That didn't last long! Probably got some great weight room training with the Celts, anyway. Too bad, Crespi needs more depth in the trenches, and I understand he'...

Re: Crespi adds the beef up front

classy well-wishes, friar4life - thank you hsfb is tough for me these days, with the transfers a year and a half ago Crespi lost about 10 starters that didn't like Thomas' style, and went 4-7 with a horrible final 45-0 drubbing at the hands of MV in Troy's first year back - with 30 players last year...

Re: Crespi adds the beef up front

I've watched with interest Thomas' career since he got his first head coaching position at Crespi. From my bleacher's perspective, there was a certain lack of comfort level all along at Servite. Don't know if it's anyone's fault, really, and I wouldn't be surprised if Servite "losing him" was as muc...

Re: Crespi, St. John Bosco football nearing two-year deal

Crespi will be VERY young NEXT season. I expect lots of sophs will have to step up from last year's pretty decent freshman squad. In '14 the Celts played 6-8 guys both ways, including special teams. They had about 12 really talented seniors whose shoes will be very hard to fill. Art - a transfer fro...

Re: Great Season PAC-5

Most fun for this Mission League fan in years. Maybe since Crespi joined Pac 5. Expectations were naught from everywhere for the Celts, and though I held some hope, I didn't see the kind of beatings they unleashed on ND, Chaminade and SM coming, at all. And Mission accounted for themselves credibly:...

I didn't see much of it, and didn't complain about the hit on #1 so much ...

Re: Poly vs Crespi

yeah I was shocked about the defensive side as well early on LPPoly threw a bunch of passes into single coverage and their wideouts made the plays - a lot like Alemany did - Crespi had a chance to take control in the first half and had some small stuff go the wrong way later on Crespi seemed to wear...

Re: Santa Margarita at Crespi

New - I've read a lot about Troy's departure - he is a guy that doesn't get a lot of middle of the road assessments - you like him or you really don't - part of that is created by what I perceive is Thomas' lack of concern about it, one way or another - not a politician. I know many of the Servite f...

Re: Santa Margarita at Crespi

luvthegame, junior et al TT's resume points to elite coach status. I watched carefully the DLS/Servite game in the rain. Along with Thomas' coaching genius comes one of the most competitive guys I've ever seen, going all the way back to watching him play in 1986. He no doubt studied DLS style, and t...

Re: Santa Margarita at Crespi

Santa Margarita fans - I read the OC Register write up on the game. Do you guys have an opinion about why there were so many personal fouls? I counted about six from Crespi and double that for SM. The coach made an interesting comment about Crespi in the article, mentioning something about warning o...

Re: Santa Margarita at Crespi

Omar - what I got from your comment is that one shouldn't count it as likely that Crespi would wear LP Poly down. It's hard to say how good Poly is, but Crespi has worn down plenty of quality opponents this year with their six or seven players going both ways. It has been phenomenal to watch. No tra...

yikes - you OC homers missed the boat big time with SM/Crespi - I was surprised myself, gotta admit

this was a bigger whoopin' than the Crespi/MD 2007 game no one down there saw comin'

too rare for our guys in the SFV, but SWEET when it happens

Re: Santa Margarita at Crespi

they probably threw about 10 times cruiser - not very effectively, but maybe enough for SM to respect the possibility this team has got to be surprising Thomas - I'm blown away about how they can run and the defense was incredible - SM scored on the first play, about a 70 bomb, and the only other sc...

Re: Santa Margarita at Crespi

three hours before kickoff, I've got my prediction: Crespi, probably in a very close one, maybe decided late. Celts need to have lots of success with the veer, need to pass with at least some success, and get some key stops against what I'm gathering is an explosive offense. Loser of this game is he...
