Re: Winningest Coaches

"In '82 Beuerlein led Servite to the CIF Title beating San Gorgonio 37-7, Loyola 20-7, Alemany 19-17, and LB Poly 31-7. By contrast, Amat, who lost to Servite 36-0, lost 13-12 in the first round to Lakewood, who, in turn lost to Alemany 20-10 in the 2nd round." I went down your way to see that Alema...

Re: Troy Thomas to Santa Margarita!!!!

beerseach - your question is valid and I think answered in large part by Axe's original post, and the last para. of my post I wouldn't be surprised if TT is trying to adopt Grady's philosophy and a bit of Ladouceur's at DLS, and I'm not sure it's doable here in the southland DLS has their pick of th...

Re: Troy Thomas to Santa Margarita!!!!

@ Mike Axe thanks for the posts - especially the initial one just don't try to take Thomas from Crespi when you are up here, OK? Bongo, Roadrunner...actually most of the posters on the boards don't relate to your first post, and would think I'm crazy for wanting Thomas at Crespi more than ever, afte...

Re: Power of a coach

Thanks again IrvDad. There's a 3/1/10 OC Register article on him that reflects what HSFB should be all about. Seems like the right guy for your son to want to emulate.

I'm a moron at linking, but you can google Coach Henigan California and find it right away.

Liked this post a lot too Irvdad, and I'd like to give thought-props to this coach as well, if you don't mind divulging.

footballfan50 - you've got to quit while you are way behind, with the gap widening at each post. To add insult to injury, you don't know ANYTHING about Thomas/Crespi. Goodness you post like a product of American education you extoll, and you embarrass yourself. And to wrestlingfan, friar4life and do...

Re: OLu's Silly Offense

Crespi doesn't think it was too silly. Thomas prides himself on defensive tenacity, and OLU shredded them. No team did that to Crespi all year last year, with the exception of 2nd half LB Poly.

hey HUDL isn't accessible for 59 year olds with no kids in the game, no coaching/AD status, and actually no status relative to HSFB other than being a hopeless junkie for it, is it? I went on the site and my role as a pathetic devotee of 50 years wasn't one of the available choices for sign up

OLU vs. Crespi

Love to play Trinity. Any OLU fans got any insight/opinions to share about Friday's game up here? Doesn't seem like the 21-13 start against Dominguez was too blazing. On the other hand, my boys didn't exacly manhandle Sylmar, and had a bunch of penalties, picking up where they left off last year. I ...

Re: 2015: The Return of the Pro-Style Offense?

A true fan will be engaged in the contrasts of old vs. new, flashy vs. meat and potatoes. Through the years (decades, yikes), my most memorable contests to watch have featured this contrast, and having the young men adapt/overcome on the fly. It's a great chess match with lots of different strategie...

Re: Bosco Spring Showcase Video

All I know is that 9/18 is cleared away for a trip down to Bellflower. Very excited Crespi scheduled this game. Though I hear the stands might be a little dicey. They were last time I was at SJB, to watch Tim Lins' Celts battle the Braves in the late 90's. Splinters in my ass are one thing, but I do...

Re: Crespi adds the beef up front

classy well-wishes, friar4life - thank you hsfb is tough for me these days, with the transfers a year and a half ago Crespi lost about 10 starters that didn't like Thomas' style, and went 4-7 with a horrible final 45-0 drubbing at the hands of MV in Troy's first year back - with 30 players last year...

Re: Crespi adds the beef up front

I've watched with interest Thomas' career since he got his first head coaching position at Crespi. From my bleacher's perspective, there was a certain lack of comfort level all along at Servite. Don't know if it's anyone's fault, really, and I wouldn't be surprised if Servite "losing him" was as muc...

Re: Crespi, St. John Bosco football nearing two-year deal

Crespi will be VERY young NEXT season. I expect lots of sophs will have to step up from last year's pretty decent freshman squad. In '14 the Celts played 6-8 guys both ways, including special teams. They had about 12 really talented seniors whose shoes will be very hard to fill. Art - a transfer fro...

Re: Great Season PAC-5

Most fun for this Mission League fan in years. Maybe since Crespi joined Pac 5. Expectations were naught from everywhere for the Celts, and though I held some hope, I didn't see the kind of beatings they unleashed on ND, Chaminade and SM coming, at all. And Mission accounted for themselves credibly:...
