Just finished loading up all our gear for our annual 10 days in Sequoia/Kings Canyon national park. Heading out at oh-dark-thirty tomorrow morning.

I work all year for this 10 days in the woods, all in all a fair exchange.

Thanks, it's always a great getaway, just me and wifey. Although we do hope to share it with our grandson in a year or two, he's five years old now

Nice country. Made the mistake in my youth of trying to hike to Mt. Whitney from Lodgepole. Didn't make it. #-o

Leo Carrillo Campground in Malibu has the nicest beach ground in California.

I used to LOVE that part of living in Laguna.
Until El Nino hit and we had replace windows that were broken on the second level of the house.
Living 10 feet from the water is all fun and games until the storms hit.
That and having nightmares of Tsunami's.... 8-[

 Good luck with that!
I have family coming in from AZ staying at my Grandparents in Bev Hills.
Needless to say, they won't be going far over the weekend.

Back home after our adventures in the woods of Grant Grove Sequoia/Kings Canyon national park, forest, monument, etc. As always a thoroughly enjoyable vacation.

Had a couple early set backs but soldiered through. Got to the campground, set up the tent and stored all the food properly and hung out a bit. Off to go hunt fire wood out on the unpaved backwood roads and after loading a trunk full of wood the car won't start. Hike back to the main road, hitchhike back to the village with a payphone and get AAA to the rescue.

It's getting late... to be continued.

National Parks don't seem to be good for batteries. Same thing happened to us at Yosemite.
Don't look at me, I just work here.

Buc Pride wrote:(cut and pasted from a March thread titled Summer Vacations)

We just purchased our tickets to Bangkok. The plan is to use Bangkok as the hub and travel through SE Asia for most of July. I'm still in the process of putting together a loose itenerary to outline the places we will visit. So far the definate go to places are:

Cambodia -Siem Reap (Ankor Wat, floating villiages), Phnom Penh (The Killing fields, Royal Palace, Wat Phnom)
Thailand -Bangkok (I can only handle a day or so of this place), Patong Beach, Phi Phi Island, Krabi

(new material)

We leave in exactly 20 days. On a normal day I'm logging at least 3 hours a day researching. Trip Adviser, Lonely Planet, creepy Expat forums, various travel blogs, weather reports, and the F-ing hotel review sites. F the hotel review people, I don't trust them at all. Pretty sure my tastes are going to differ a tad bit from Helen the 58 year old divorced Scandinavian former house wife. Oh yeah, travel books on the beach all weekend. Needless to say I'm ready to go.

Timing out the flights (8) was tough. Turns out I'm a terrible flight planner. The wife is too busy to deal with the planning so hopefully she will understand I tried my best. A few uncomfortable lay overs will just make us appreciate the final destination that much more.

Wow this Buc Pride guy sure seems to know how to travel. I bet he is now sitting in his hotel room half drunk checking in on his OC Connect friends. Confirmed, he is.

He said his trip has been sick! Water warm, beer cold! Too bad he was banned from this site permanently. Can anybody remember what he did? Oh yea, he called some random guy who asked to be a moderator on a website an as$. Mind you the random guy was being an as$ in Buc Pride's opinion. Hope everybody is enjoying their summer, Buc tells me he really misses his daily e-talks with all of you (6 years worth). Seems weird to him that the owner of this site would allow a random guy (a guy whom he has never met) to censor members. I just looked at the top of this page and censorship does not seem to go well with this saying: Where everyone's entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it may be. . Oh yeah, new members are coming! Where are all these new members? Seems to me we have heard that song before. Oh yeah, kids read this site. Yeah they do. I got news for all you sheltered Catholics, Lutherans, and Greeks, kids can also dial up porn on the internet. Yep its true. I'm told they cuss in porn.

You all know Buc Pride. He does not need to be censored nor banned. It just might be that atGreek thinks the site should be run differently than JQP. Do they even talk? King_Blng has been doing the EXACT same routine for years. What changed? Maybe the faux leadership? Oh yeah, new members are coming and Blng will scare them away with his love for Edison and disdain for all private schools. Note to the new members (who don't exist) if you can't take what somebody types on the intraweb about your private school you're not going to do to good in life.

Buc tells me he now needs to sleep. 9:15pm in Patong Beach after a day of beach, massages, fireworks, elephant riding, drinking, ........

Are those elephants clean that Buc is riding? FYI... before beach vacations you should really think about hitting the gym to get rid of the the man boobs and gut. Nothing says tourist like a fat white guy in Cambodia.
