Any Toyota owners here?

Postby Hanna » Thu Oct 23, 2014 5:13 pm

We received a small check (less than $30) from Toyota Economic Loss Settlement Administration. It is about the "unintended acceleration" lawsuit.

Yes, I know, many died and apparently there was a class action suit.

But... neither our '98 Camry not the '07 Highlander were ever recalled. Shall I get nervous?

I own three toyotas. No check for me either.

Wow, almost thirty bucks? So if you're killed in one of their runaway deathtraps, Toyota will at least spring for a nice tie when you're buried?

Did you trade in your beat to hell Saturn for the Lexi?

Moving up gradually. Good move...keeps the neighbors from becoming resentful of your auto holdings.

This was from the lawsuit that claimed that Toyota owners suffered from an economic loss when the value of their car dropped. I don't know how they decide who qualified.

You got $30. The class action lawyers got $millions. Your name got snagged from DMV records, and unless you filled out a form requesting a settlement, some lawyer committed identity theft on you to fatten his wallet..
Those that didn't get a check donated their funds to the lawyer's welfare benefit..
This class action BS needs to be reeled in..
I don't suffer from any mental illnesses.. I enjoy them..

The number of people paid on a class action suit makes no difference in the lawyer's commission. It affects how much the members of the class are paid, but the amount is set by the court before the settlement is divvied up. Hanna's $30 means somebody else doesn't get $30.01 but the lawyer gets his commish off the top, so it means nothing to him.
