A quarterly report submitted by John Wayne Airport that measures the average noise produced by aircraft showed there were only three complaints from Tustin residents for the third and fourth quarters of 2006. Complaints in Tustin were down by one for the same period in 2005.
At the City Council meeting Tuesday, Mayor Lou Bone said the noise problem seems to be "getting better" in Tustin.
However, countywide complaints have risen. During the third period of 2006, the airport's Access and Noise Office received 536 complaints, a 103 percent increase from the same period the previous year. The office registered 219 complaints for the fourth quarter, an 84 percent increase.
The city's noise level is measured at a station at Columbus Tustin Middle School.
