Does anybody actually like the taste of wine?

Postby Charles » Fri Aug 26, 2011 5:51 pm

Or pretty much any other alcoholic beverage, unless they are mixed with sweeteners like Coke or fruit juice or whatever?

Yes....Cab Sav and most other reds. Not a white nor a rose wine fan. I do like champagne.

Would you drink it if it didn't have alcohol in it (and it was reasonably enough priced)?

Wine? Wine is sweetened as it is I'm sure plenty of people would drink even without alcohol in it.

I'd drink scotch even if it was nonalcoholic.

No. That's what Diet Pepsi is for. What would be the point?

For the taste? That's the question. Does anybody like the taste of wine, OR, is the only reason they drink it is to catch a buzz?

If non alcoholic champagne was an option at a soda fountain (Coke, Diet Coke, Root Beer, Orange, Non Alcholic Champagne, Non Alcoholic Red Wine, Non Alcoholic [anything else], 7Up, etc.....) would anybody ever select it?

I like the taste of wine and haven't consumed it to get a buzz since I turned 21 (and that was Boone's Farm Apple, so not exactly what you'd call "wine," really).

I also love to cook with it. I'm not a rose fan, but there are some whites and a lot of reds I particularly enjoy.

You stopped drinking (for a buzz) after you turned 21?

And, you drink regular wine for the purpose of not catching a buzz (but you must be catching some sort of buzz even with one glass of wine.)

This could very well be the most idiotic response you've made yet.

I said I haven't drunk wine to get drunk (or buzzed) since the Boone's Farm Apple incident on my 21st birthday. I'm pretty sure that statement wasn't that difficult to understand.

No, I don't drink anything for the purpose of "not" catching a buzz: I drink wine because I enjoy wine. No, one glass of wine does not give me a buzz.

Are you drunk now?

Just getting clarification. Relax.

No, I am not drunk now but maybe you need a glass of wine now.

So, you would enjoy wine now even if it had no alcohol in it?

Charles Shaw wine is reasonably priced, similar to coke or pepsi by volume.

I like the taste...the buzz is a bonus. No I wouldn't drink it if it had no alcohol in it....but neither would I drink Diet Pepsi if it had alcohol in it, and I like the taste of cola....I never mix colas with booz.

You were "getting clarification" by putting your words into my mouth. So down a few glasses of Cabernet and you relax.

Don't know how many times I'm going to have to answer this before you understand, but yes.

And, in fact, I drink non-alcoholic wine on occassion (like when the bride and groom are tee-totallers).
