Corona del Mar CIF-SS champs

Post by Wiley » Fri Dec 09, 2011 10:02 pm

Beckman scored with seconds left in the game and could have tied the score with the extra-point conversion. Instead the coach decided to take the game out of the hands of his players and play overtime. The two-point attempt was stuffed by the Sea Kings staunch defensive. Congrats to the Sea Kings for their first football championship in 22-years.

Alert: Barkley sighting at the game on the CdM sideline.

I'd go for the win right there also.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying going for 2 there takes the game out of the hands of his players. I would think just the opposite. Did I miss something?

I agree with Bick. They put it in the hands of their best player, Kim, in an effort to win it right there. They could have gone to overtime as well, but decided (for whatever reason) to try to win it on the spot. I imagine that if Beckman hadn't had much luck moving the ball during the game, as evidenced a bit by the low score, that they might have felt that OT was not in their best interest. Perhaps CdM has the better kicker, and OT between two good defensive teams was going to come down to making 40 yard fgs? Whatever the reason, going for 2 at that moment with no time left is a pretty good choice.

Is it ironic that the Sea King's may help clinch Wiley's 1st Pool crown after a Freyer post referring to him as Wild Walrus

If he does win, Wiley should officially change his moniker to Wild Walrus for good

I guess that's just Saint Barkley being Saint Barkley.

I wish I could hate the guy, but I just cannot.

I think he will be at USC next year and will tear it up.

As John McKay used to say, "The objective of the game is to estblish a point differential." Play for the win.
