Cage Jr. will go to Mater Dei

Post by Ramon » Mon May 14, 2012 10:52 am

Steve Fryer from The Orange County Register wrote:Michael Cage Jr., son of the former Clippers star, will attend Mater Dei as a freshman in the 2012-13 school year, his mother Jodi confirmed by email.

Cage Jr., is 6-foot-8 and 200 pounds. The Prospect Central website ranks him as one of the top players in the nation for the class of 2016.

Mater Dei won CIF section and state championships this past season. The Monarchs top two players from that team, CIF-Southern Section Division 1AA co-players of the year Xavier Johnson and Katin Reinhardt, are seniors.

He has a chance to be a starter on a team that will be pretty strong, although they will miss Rinehardt and X. Johnson, they return a pretty decent team, one that could be a contender for a CIF title.
At the very least he provides them with depth under the basket.

Kid is a beast and reminds me alot of Tyson Chandler when he was young. He was also considering going to OLu.

The kid is in 8th grade now. If I am not mistaken.

I know, which is why I am poking fun. The critics tend to say those things regardless of whether the kid actually transfers or enrolls at MD as a freshman.

The kid is a beast -- but I also heard he is a bit older than most 8th graders.

What religion is he? Maybe he chose MD over OLu due to religious reasons.

Olu was never a serious consideration. This decision was made weeks ago.

Cool Michael Cage was a stud, but seriously does anyone but a handful of fans really care about HS basketball, it's been dead for a while now. The same can be said for College Ball, the one and done rule has killed the game.

That's funny, I was told the same thing. In fact, I knew months ago.

Where does he currently go to school? Someone had mentioned a Catholic school in South County. Is that the true?

Good for MD basketball. Can't wait to re-up my season tickets!

Oh no. If true, this could mean more gastric distress for LH.
