servite spring football

Post by porkchop » Sun May 12, 2013 3:45 pm

Has anyone had a chance to check out servite's spring practice as of yet? If so,thoughts? I hope to get there soon.

I can answer that right now. Depending on you age and school affiliation they are big strong and fast or they are young and a couple years away, maybe. And they will go 10-0 or 2-8 next year.

Fast paced, but with energy and excitement. You can tell the Leadership is starting to develop, especially with the juniors that played mostly JV last year. Regardless of size, these kids are going to come out with a much different level of intensity next season.

So is your inference that TT lacked intensity or the ability to create/arouse such in his players? He wasn't an effective motivator?

With their schedule, they could be 3-7 and make the playoffs and do damage. Their record is not what is important this year. They basically have 3 automatic losses from what I can see (Bishop Gorman, LB Poly and De La Salle), 3 games that are 50/50 (La Mirada, Edison and JSerra) and 4 games where they will be underdogs but could conceivable win (MD, OLu, Bosco, Santa Margarita). Based on that I can see them being fairly decent and still be 3-7 or 4-6. There is no way they are going to have one of those impressive looking 9-1 or 8-2 type records.

Practice has been crisp. Players excited. Sense of purpose on this team. Pauu and Moore look like different players than last year. Incoming Jrs look like difference makers so far. Likely to DLS, MD, maybe Bosco. Poly will be a better game than most think.

I have stated before TT is a great X/O coach! He is intense, focussed, and committed to be a winner on the field. He will do well in a school that allows him to take which ever direction he needs to create a successful program. Maybe Crespi is just that - not sure (BTW - it doesn't have to be negative). Servite is not an organization that will separate Formation and sports. Servite believes you can win at both, and TT didn't buy in (my opinion) the last couple years. In his last year, I do believe he lost the ability to motivate players to perform at their highest level, and appoint Leaders within the players to ensure continued tradition and success. You could see it on the field. At a minimum, Gass will gain from a renewed intensity much like TT had "win" he started. Good luck to TT, but he won't need it.

Friarjoe, bishop gorman lost everyone, its their rebuilding yr,rb sparks was just kicked out of school. Lb poly always starts slow and even though they won it last yr i didnt find them that great. De la salle has new coach and that could change everything. With servites talent i can see them having a very good yr. Possibly there in the end. Oline and dline will be the difference

It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

And that's why Servite will be 3-7, at best.

O line, no problem. Servite has some bulls up front. D line might lack depth but starters are studs.

Deep at QB, WR, LB.

Secondary solid but needs a couple guys to step up.

Joefutbol, Ill put any amount of money down on the gorman game and ill give you 6 pts. I got servite so there is no confusion. we can get an escrow account. See how much your parents will lend you.

Certainly will joe. The O line looks great so far. Not sure why folks think otherwise but the boys will prove themselves to the doubters.

Porkchop is right. Gorman is good and Sanchez is a top notch coach. But Servite wins this one. Incoming juniors took BG to task frosh and JV. This junior class is legit.
