Ramon - Others

Who are the D play makers, upfront, in the middle, coverage? What are there strengths? Are there any weaknesses or vulnerabilities?

What's the best offense they've faced?

The best offense MD has faced is when they scrimmage themselves in practice. MD's defense looks very tough. Servite will need to hit some big plays. A running QB will need to be a key part of that and big play receivers. I don't see Servite grinding it out against that front seven.

Brings back memories of when a reporter asked Bill Walton (UCLA) who was the best center he
played against all year and his reply was Swen Nater, in daily practices.

Until that time no one paid attention to Swen. He was a stud.

Servite is humiliating themselves...can't say that I am surprised. The only surprise is for the homers on this board....28-0 and DLS is rolling. Ouch.

Not a surprise to me as I predicted 42-14. They can't keep up with this style. No one else in league can replicate anything close to this. The friars just need to take their whipping like men and get ready for league. DLS could win this game 75-0 if they wanted to.

@socalfan

You are spot on....Servite homers are still not going to eat the humble pie however, they will most likely go after Gass again. lol

U know what servite played ok against de la salle. Too many mistakes and penalties that cost them the game. If servite capitalized just on one play when they were in the red zone early in the game it would've been a completely different game. Servite played with de la salle and that's all u gotta give them. Anybody else would've been killed for sure. Servite just got to many penalties and stupid plays against them. I predicted 35-31 servite and I think if things went better for servite that would've happened.

Servite could've won that game if it just wasn't for all the mistakes. They will do good in the trinity league with how they played (minus the stupid mistakes).

Does anyone know exactly why Coach Gass decided to institute the wide offensive line splits? What does he think the specific advantage for Servite is?

Is it because of his personell specifically or does he just prefer that offensive set in general?................ Luca

Really? You are probably one of the few people who feel that way...DLS was in complete control of the game.

Ur an idiot socalfan. De la salle executed on servite mistakes and didn't score again until late in the game. De la salle wasn't in control the whole game. U must just want to think that. Servite played with de la salle and if they didn't have mistakes they could've competed even more.

Those wide splits are commonly seen on teams that run the spread. It helps create running lanes. With the spread, defenses can only line up in a few different ways. It helps to simplify things for the offense. Look at Texas Tech, Corona C., Washington State, Oregon. The big disadvantage is that defenders can shoot gaps and potentially make some big plays. The spread offense is pretty basic.

Watch next week, Mater Dei will blitz the hell out of Servite.

Because of mistakes. Servite gave them that big gap and they just capitalized on it. Then the kick return fumble and de la salle capitalized on that. Take those away it's 0-0 still.

"If you take away all of DLS's scores then Servite shuts them out!"

Sweet logic bro.

Yes, take away DLS's 35 points and Servite wins. Got it. You are funny.
