I think a number of fans on here would be upset to know that their head coach has already contacted SM about the opening. The good news is that their commute would be pretty quick.

If I were in charge, I'd forgo current experienced coaches and turn to the terrific coaches that permeate this site.

There's that sarcastic wit that we all saw before. Hopefully this time it won't make you look like a fool when the target of your sarcasm turns around and beats you, like Servite did. How did that crow taste?

How about Jim Hartigan returning to the program he built?

That's exactly who I was going to nominate. He is an MD Alum and runs a very successful speed training program that has helped many athletes gain college scholarships, no matter the division, all of this in addition to his time at Compton Centennial (?) and Carson.

Neither Johnson or Hartigan are interested. At least at this point.

I would be absolutely shocked if Asante got that job.

Nolan is a novel idea but he has a reputation of not being able to sit still, so to speak. A lot of stops in a relatively short career. Not a teacher either - many outside, possibly conflicting, interests/commitments.
I have a felling it will be someone from out of the area.

Johnson at SM?... What about Buck W and Don't Be That Guy, Luca would probably be OK with it but Unequally Yoked that would be. Nah..won't ever be Johnson, not in a million dollars uh I mean years. On the other hand, he would already know most of the players...if they could just bring back the indulgence system?...Nah...How would the interview Start? So coach, based on your previous engagement, how did coaching The Devils prepare you for flight school with the Eagles of Santa Margarita? Glad you asked? We had to dig deep to find the keys to unlock our potential...Then the most amazing thing happened this guru "Sly Baller" came out from behind a tree and said just eat this, study that and *!poof!* we started winning championships. So...

The above was just for entertainment, as far as I know all the goats at the farm are accounted for...just poking a little fun at us all. I have an appointment with a specialist, who says he thinks he can help me.

Seriously I hope SM finds a coach they can be proud of and who will stand up for the principles the school espouses and is also a great motivator and character builder. All eyes on that hire...

In my opinion current SM assistant Jeff Grady and Bishop Gorman's Tony Sanchez are the leading candidates to be the next head coach at SM.

I read and heard all the bad stuff throughout the past few years over on the southerncaliforniapreps boards. If I'm SM admin, I'm leaving no stone unturned in my background research. Some very serious allegations. I'd also administer a drug test immediately. After speaking with Carson St. Paul and Lakewood my take is he might be one of the top con-artists in the state.

I am sure they will have no problem finding another arrogant old man, who thinks nothing of making racial overtures and looks the other way when his staff have certain side jobs.

I hope they find a coach that meets the Christian standard, instead of solely wins.

Hum the irony is SMHS is divided on his departure, some have come to their senses and glad to see him go, as I ranted a couple years ago. You are right Harry you did it your way and I hope we never see your way again, good bye old fart...

The guy they should get is JN, the kids would have a real role model.
There should be an OC Connect Trinity Board...

I will say this again, Thad Mc Niel from Carlsbad / Lakewood, would be a excellent candidate. I find it interesting that he was quoted this week on Bosco players he coached at Lakewood. Is he resurfacing?

Old School contributes about Coach Welch "Hum the irony is SMHS is divided on his departure ..."

Are your accomplishments notable enough that anyone will notice your departure?

Perhaps it is your daily display of the Christian standard that assures your recognition among your peers?

"Lead, follow or get the h*ll out of the way." Which are you Old School?

It's a sad day when a reporter includes "Elijah Asante" on the same line as Dirty Harry, Sponge Bob, and angry Hartigan. I understand in this day and age it's hard to make a buck in the news industry. But come on now Sondheimer, if you want to include this jokester in your article, put him in the Miley Cyrus or George Zimmerman column. I enjoy reading this message board, as well as the Rivals board on Southerncaliforniapreps. I noticed all the old facts about Asante have been erased on the SoCaPreps board. Very interesting.
I can understand Dirty Harry allowing Asante to stand on the sidelines this year. It made sense. The desperate man brought us a tailback with McNichols, and Harry was resigning anyway. But please Sondheimer, do not disrespect the rich tradition of SMCHS by allowing your old buddy to talk you into posting a bullcrap article including him. You know damn well there is zero substance to your article. Didn't you learn your lesson after helping him get the St. Paul job? No need for me to say anything else other than:
SMCHS do your research on this man and do it well. Granting him a "interview" would be a sad day for SM nation. Speak with Carson, St. Paul, Lakewood, and the school who almost drank his Kool-aid (Verbum Dei).
