1. Servite -- Has played consistently well against a preseason schedule that is statistically the toughest in the state.

2. St. John Bosco -- Has been consistently even more impressive that Servite, but against a schedule that is much, much weaker.

3. Mater Dei -- No comment.

4. Orange Lutheran -- The king ain't dead as long as the king is still breathing. They have a way of rising to the occasion when it becomes necessary.

5. Santa Margarita -- Watch out for these guys. They have survived against the third toughest preseason schedule in the state (after Servite and Crespi).

6. JSerra -- From being questionable of fielding a team to a 4-0 record and a 25 power rating, this program looks like it's on the way up. Hartigan deserving of consideration as early nominee for O.C. coach of the year.

WARNING TO ALL.............. Mater Dei having a little preseason struggle can turn positive in a heart beat. Gelling in league play and staying hot and focused at the start of the playoffs is ideal. MD has been hot out of the gate and been a little schizophrenic in league + playoffs. It just could be their year ladies and gentleman.

Well Al,

Thanks for the warning. Excellent post. MD can turn in a heart beat, just don't know if they have the players this year. MD has (in recent years) been hot out of the gate, and then hit the wall ](*,) late in the year. What year are you refering to? You are correct, it could be their year, and you "could" also get an "A" rating placard to post & display in your window from the Health Dept. if you could just fix a few of your minor violations. You have to admit both are decent size longshots.

BTW- What is the soup of the day? I don't believe I will be anywhere near the Stanton area today, but quite possibly some of our fellow posters may be.

Good luck with your parlay cards.

Their year for what?

While I would consider it a questionable assessment to suggest that MD has what it would take to win the pac-5 or even league this year based on what has taken place o the field, you are welcome to that opinion. But to say it could be "their year" doesn't even make sense. People are saying this is Bosco's year because it is not common for them to be having such a good season so far. It's not uncommon for Mater Dei to be one of the best teams in the state.

WARNING TO ALL......? What, like someone is going to let Mater Dei sneak up on them and surprise them? That's like letting a heard of elephants sneak up on you. If you really think Mater Dei can sneak up on people (this, or any season), I have some great beach front property in Montana I would love to offer to you.

Uncle Riiiiico Suaaaave,

Long shots yes......did I mention I minored in voodoo at Southern Louisana City College? You have to deflect the Kaybosh set by others.......too many high praises in the wrong direction spells disaster. My mantra is to deflect any Hurlistic/Wingnatzitistic support of the boys in Black. Hail Mater Dei...the greatest school in the West.......may they conquer the doubters and naysayers.

By the way Unkie...the soup of the month is Jumbalaya...spiked with a spattering of Black beans. I do need a favor from you R, since you've been promoted and promptly left working the door at the movie theater across the street, I need to take the old lady to the premier of the new Joe Strummer documentary....can you hook a brother up? (Free refills await your reply).

Thanks,

I would love to view your property in Montana.....I have teamed up with a venture capitol group and we are looking for a piece of real estate to develop a resort called the Liquor Box. It will consist of a casino/strip club with a supercross/freestyle track circling the premisses. If there is a beach there that is definitely a plus.

Also, can you tell me where I can find a supplier for Bosco, my patrons seem to have a hankering for something chocolatey and smooth and Ovaltine just doesn't cut the mustard.

Thank you in advance,

Well Alfonse,

Consider it done.

What's the deal w/free refills? You already promised me if I bring in my own cup all the refills I want. You told me and I quote "the cup costs me nine cents my friend".

It would be my pleasure to seat Al and Helen Bangya.

Have a good week.

I saw SJB play St Paul Oct 3rd.. They beat St P. by a larger margin than Servite did. SJB v. Servite play the last week of league at Servite's venue. SJB has 40 SENIORS ON THE TEAM and the QB is REAL. #2 is a quick, efficient runner but not as good as Portis. The defensive and offensive line for SJB may be subject to tiring as some kids go both ways. #40 DE is quick. Servite will have to defend him (flip/flops strong /weak sides) to keep their QB on target. Another offensive stand out was their sophomore receiver #21. He pulled in 2 catches with St P guys on him...great hands, tall and has leaping ability. He cold be a force the next 2 years.

SJB has a new Off. Coordinator. He will have 9 weeks to prepare for Servite. Let's see what happens in league as SJB seems to faulter there. I don't think that Kiki Mendoza has the abilty to counter the Trinity coach's 2nd half adjustments. He just seems to find away a way to lose.

"#2 is a quick, efficient runner but not as good as Portis" -------WHATTTTT?? #2's name is Mahr and he is definitely as good if not better than Portis. Ask Loyola or St. Paul when they tried to tackle him. He's one of the strongest kids on the team, runs a 4.4 forty and can juke you out of your shoes. I just hope the rest of the Servite people think the same thing so he can run all over you.

Well lets put it this way....why break up a good thing? Having Fletcher play could be a big distraction for a team that has put up with such lousy coaching in the past. This kid has not had to go through any of the BS that Bosco puts its athletes through. This kid transfers in as a senior and doesn't have the grades to play, now half way through an undefeited season Bosco's going to mess with the chemistry of this team and force him into a spot that he has not earned...why?? They feel obligated, someone made a promise....maybe this is the key to getting more transfers?? Well the more things look like they change for the better, things stay the same. You see if players work hard and stay dedicated..they get better....and coaches?? They don't..shortcuts are easier.

First of all, they wouldnt be breaking up a good thing by actually letting him play when he is eligible academically. He has gone through everything the others have but just cant play till the grades come out. Secondly, he gets along great with the other guys and is friends with a lot of them already so dont talk unless you really know. As far as your ignorant remark about lousy coaching in the past, once again you dont know anything about Bosco coaching so slow your roll pal. You make such ignorant statements about not earning things, forcing him into spots, messing up the chemistry, bro stop you're sounding like a cry baby who is upset that there is a player that will have earned a chance at playing that isn't part of your team. He's a kid who's parents made a choice for education and unlike my OC leaguemates, Bosco didnt go out and recruit him to play football. Beleive it or not that's your call, but Mendoza is a good coach and wouldnt do anything that would take away from the TEAM!

You're kidding? Right? You obviously don't know the sports program at Bosco and the crap that goes on. If I am a coach in the Trinity League, I lick my chops to coach against any of the coaching geniuses at Bosco. Dont get me wrong the kids are great and have a great team, but look at all the other teams, they use the pre-season to get ready for league play. Bosco has been undefeated in the pre season before and were absolutely clueless in league. I hope for the kids sake, the ones that had thier grades and worked hard through the summer and pre season that they are successful in league, they deserve it. The coaches, well they will get what they deserve.

"The coaches, well they will get what they deserve" What the hell is that supposed to mean? Youre an idiot, I've forgotten more about Bosco and the football program than you would ever know in your life time. What about the undefeated Serra league champs you idiot? Did you forget about that, and the following year as well? You're probably one of those ignorant band wagon jumpers who says what he thinks he knows because someone else popped off once. Get a clue, you obviously dont know what you're talking about.

Hey idiot!! Get a clue...the past is the past..get over it..we now have cars, and planes, microwaves, etc. We also have the Trinity League (still waitng for a league win), we have the Pac-5, which by the way looks like a whole lot of fun during play-off time (how should Bosco know).Bosco is up against OC's elite either compete or get out but don't live on that past BS!!
