As Catholics we may want to pump our brakes a bit when pointing out indescrectiins if others. We have a lot of shame as a church with far greater crimes tthan what is being debated about some adolescents. Not a pass but perspective.
Frankly I am very ashamed of how we handled the issues as a church. We need absolution and punishment

Either way it is a one game suspension.

What’s interesting is how those who ask others not to discuss it are the first ones to discuss kids who the CIF ruled ineligible. Classic.

The CIF-SS is a public organization...Mater Dei is not...If either of the parties involved in this private matter feel inclined to go public, have at it brother.

Huh? How is that relevant? I’m responsible for protecting MD but not a public school? That’s silly logic.

The CIF-SS publishes it's rulings...Hence they are open for public discussion...Unless either of the parties involved in this alleged private matter decides to go public with it...We're just speculating...This is America...If you want to continue to harp on this...Help yourself

Finally! Somebody who understands and is willing to acknowledge what's going on. Thanks, man.

Players have been suspended. 20 years ago you're no longer at Mater Dei for what just happened. What do you expect when you're bringing in the "I.E" element into the school to win football games. Boy Scouts?? "He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas" - Franklin

That right there is some BS. Elements come from all areas - good and bad. Don’t pin this crap on “The IE” you ignorant jack. I don’t think those wonderful Teacher Becky’s of Orange County banging minors were influenced by bad IE elements.

You people claiming “Catholic Pride” are selective with your judgment. Make sure your own house is clean before you preach.

"inner city kids"

"city section athletes"

"the IE element"

These guys never run out of creative ways to imply what they don't have the balls to say outright

Personally, I don’t care if they’re black. Asian is a different story.

And the really sad thing is I don't think any of these people posting this crap have stepped foot on Mater Dei's campus recently. If they had, they would see how diverse the student body is at Mater Dei. If MD wanted to, they could fill up that school with rich white kids from New Porsche Beach, CDM, HB, etc. all paying full tuition w/o having to deal with funding a substantial annual financial aid program. But, that's not the mission of the school and over 1/2 of the students get some financial aid.

What I find comical is this fantasy that MD is going to get kids playing football from schools that don't even offer tackle football anymore. BTW, I say this as a parent of a "local parochial school" kids. Our school has not offered tackle football since we have been there in 2009. Also, one of the longtime teachers told me there are not enough kids at the local Catholic schools to fill up all the Catholic high school's openings. They said the local Catholic schools get the first look, but, MD, and all the other Catholic high schools have to get kids from other areas to fill up the enrollment.

Times have changed in youth sports and "clubs" now handle the youth sports that were handled by the local Catholic schools back in the 70's, 80's, 90's.

So RPW are you saying that the grab and run suspects were not the players from the IE? Like I wrote earlier it had to be those thugs from St. Bonnie and St. Simon and Jude in HB.

If the event happened, what difference does it make? Wrong is wrong...I'm not understanding where you're going with this line of reasoning? Kids from St, Bonnie or St. Simon and Jude could easily make the same stupid mistake that a kid from the Inland Empire can...Just be honest, and say what you truly mean to say.

Ramon, because you know, it's the IE kids, you know, it's going to happen because, well; you know,
It's IE kids and they, well; you know; it's IE kids, not too racist, no?

So theft at MD is now considered a minor transgression or stupid mistake.

I'm sorry, Buck, but I have to be blunt. It wasn't that many years ago that one young football player was asked to leave a private O.C. high school for dealing drugs to his classmates, and he was quickly accepted and enrolled at another private O.C. high school. The comments on these forums largely lauded the second school for giving a second chance to a young man who had screwed up. I certainly don't remember your sanctimonious ass raising holy hell about it.

In my book, dealing drugs is a much worse offense than slipping a candy bar into your backpack. But when it comes to how people like you respond to kids getting second chances, I guess it all depends on which school is handing them out.
