As for running up the score, yeah...for 17 minutes Los Al played football. The 3rd string RB started the game, and the #1 RB had 4 carries total in the game to "pad" his stats. The starting QB threw 7 passes, and the #2 QB took most of the snaps in the 1st half and ran it all but twice. In the 2nd half, the #3 & 4 QB's took all the snaps. Proof positive Los Al was rubbing it in Banning's nose.
1) Sitting next to almost 80 years of coaching experience "lets see if LA bring punt block again" ...and "again" and "again".
Punt "return" with a "force" to kick is a max of 4 rushers, some teams use two or three to one side to force the kick. The rest of the players check fake then focus on blocking for the return. This is football 101, no way to spin out of this Bick by word smithing. So yes Los Al went after the punter with seven up the gut, the two outside guys kept an eye on WR or gunners for fake. That is total crap, its sad to see you defend the lack of sportsmanship.
In regards to Fenton, every time he displays his character I will throw some salt and pepper on it.
2) I never mention play calls or running up the score. I left early. BTW as you know he scripts a lot of his plays and clearly stayed to it in the first half...using both QB's etc...no big deal to me. It was a solid plan.
3) Banning was horrible up front, poorly coached, did not know what back side contain meant, hence Fenton made a living on cut back plays in the first two series. I am not going to mention the player's number from Banning they were attacking. Banning got frustrated and blitzed backers, LA just hooked the end and off to the races. Fenton went right at one corner safety and the FS. He can coach football no doubt, just zero character based on my personal observations, zip, nada...Based on my personal knowledge I would never allow my children to play for him. They would play for Rollo over him.
SK and Bick, 42-0 or 62-0...is the same in my book... LA teams are horrible. A good sunset JV team is better than Banning or Rancho Domingues...look at Narbonne getting worked too. Edison JV team would smoke Banning, with the little QB they have. They smoked Oaks JV...So blow out scores don't mean crap, up to both coaches to be smart about it.
I saw the tape on every punt. It was the same vanilla "rush" / return each time. 3 backers dropped, 7 came...for 17 minutes of football. Banning made no attempt to block or even chip those guys. It was kind of comical. At each snap, 7 white jerseys ran one way, and 7 ran the other. I've really never seen anything like it. If that makes one a bad sport, then count me in that group as well.
As for playing for him, my kid and a lot of my friends' kids did as well. Clearly you and I see things very differently.
BTW I like Los Al's uniforms they looked great with the flag on the top. I heard you cant wear grey in couple years.
I don't think TF is putting them down as much as saying most of the OC schools have just gotten significantly better than most of the LA schools. Banning was the #12 team in LA. They schedule up so they can get better. So does Carson.
He's right though. LA as a whole is probably at the level of the PCL now.
I'm pretty sure all 7 were there. Put it this way, the guy who blocked it didn't leave his feet. And at the time, I couldn't tell who blocked it or picked it up. It looked something like The Blob...only this was a fast moving mass of grey that swallowed up the 3 white shirts in front of it before swallowing up the kicker.TheFan wrote: Bick, I agree it was comical. Run the tape when the kid scooped and scored. How many gray shirts were near the kid scoring the TD . As for Banning, it was so bad.. the first punt almost got blocked. Banning coaches did not say a word or change scheme a bit. Plus the punter averaged 17 yards a punt.

Love the jerseys, but reading the numbers from the pressbox was an exercise in futility.
