My as well as many others point Daforno..... if the two versions, variants, factions, schisms, between the private model and the public model to converge then I see no future between the two. As things can possibly change I am not ruling out someday a closing of the gap but for now it is so wide there is little chance a team like Mater Dei can attract a public school to play them.

There was a time when LBP could draw every kid from LA County to come play there and and be formidable against the private model.CC can get most of the talent in the IE. If CC could get EVERY kid to commit there from the vast area that is the IE then maybe they could become a formidable foe, they are close. Convince the best talent from Norco, Roosevelt out to Cajon to all join at CC just maybe you have something to throw against SJB or MD.

Formidable schedule @Bick. Looks like Ed., LA, and CDM all have their work cut out in the non-league scheduling.

Do you expect Vista Murrieta to turn last years disappointing season around? 2016 they were a top tier SS team only to land at 4-7 last season. I suspect they got a bit stretched in facing 3 Trinity schools getting thumped by JSerra, OLU and MD. MV also gave them a beat down. Did they lose a lot kids to graduation from the previous year or did kids leave for other schools like many publics have had to endure?

Looks to me Ed., LA, and CDM could all come into league at 3-2. It really depends on how good or not Tesoro and San Clemente are this 2018 season.

Not sure what to expect from VM other than they're usually pretty tough. They played a tough pre-league schedule, and they're in one of the top public leagues. I don't know if they are as elite as they once were before the other local schools siphoned off some talent, but they should be tough again this year.

Seems like the top 3 sunset schools believe an 8-5 record is better than being 9-2.

I agree with your premise regarding records (not sure about the math however 8-5=13 and 9-2=11) that are not weighted with as many wins. Watching rankings closely and in regards to CDM I saw numerous schools losing games to better ranked schools and getting a better ranking from a loss rather than beating on low ranked schools regardless of score to only lose ground in the rankings. I think Calpreps does a bit better job than Maxpreps regarding rankings.

Since we are on the subject anyone here know why Los Alamitos is about the only school whom does not post BOXSCORE/STATS after each game? --:--

9-1 regular season - 1 and done in playoffs = 9-2
6-4 regular season - losing in semis = 8-5

I think it used to be the OCR guys posted the stats / box score. Don't know who used to do it on Maxpreps.

Best thing about Maxpreps is the coaches or staff uploads all the game stats. I rarely see any team not do it..., except Los Alamitos not a single game.... The stats on MP are quit detail down to the tackles, special teams, etc. I applaud them for that as well as the LIVE UPDATES on the games..... I think because they work nationally they are a bit off on some rankings locally. Calpreps has a better angle there....

Cdm 18’ will look something like this

WIN
Palos Verdes
El Toro
Lakewood
NH
FV
HB

LOSS
JSerra (too many transfers)

COULD GO EITHER WAY
Edison
Los Al
San Clemente

I see them going 7-3 or 8-2

LA transfers to Servite? Professor Fate will never allow that.

I can't control that Red, but yeah, I won't like it. Especially if they turn out to be junior or senior transfers from a public school. I'd rather get stomped for two years while we build our own team from the floor up.

You should have feasted on Mater Dei younger players like J Serra has.

How many transfers is JSERRA up to now? Anything going on at Bosco regarding transfers. Seems like Narbonne and JSERRA have the most or am I missing some others?

Only 22 can start so there will be leftovers from MD, Bosco and others. You can only hoard so many players...

Calpreps and Maxpreps use the same rankings

Was that always the case? I see Maxpreps is owned by CBS SPORTS INTERACTIVE. Do they (MP) simply pay for the service? And does CalP still use the Freeman System? They always claim this as their "perfected" system.... --:--

Both Calpreps and Maxpreps use the Freeman Ratings for their rankings.
