Black Dawn-Servite Football

A new day has dawned....again. Same as (but different than) the last time. Many years ago, Troy Thomas arrived from Crespi and inherited a team loaded with talent but coming off of several horrible seasons. He proceeded to win NOTHING but league championships, back-to-back CIF titles, and a state crown. And now he returns....

The cupboard is bare, but there is something in the air. How QUICKLY things turned last time, how RAPIDLY Servite ascended to dominance, including the long awaited spanking of the Monarchs. The landscape is clearly different now and the ways in which championship teams are developed has morphed. IF you will "play the game" and become a destination for mercenary athlete-students, you can get there...and you can get there quickly.

I think that they will and that Troy has the formula. Despite his relative lack of success at Crespi, I believe he (and the administration, boosters, and alumni) know what it will take and are committed to the process. And not the process of being a nice, little team that tries hard, wins non-league games, and gets taken to the woodshed during league. A team that breaks hats, is painful to play against, and WINS....all the time. He has learned from miscues of his past, including adversarial relationships and spurious decisions to hire and fire. Servite has learned from its failures and come to appreciate the value of the program and what it does for the school. And they have come to value and appreciate TROY for what he brought....something they never had before and haven't sniffed since.

It started a few weeks ago and wheels have been in motion behind the curtain. When that curtain opens, y'all better be wearing your blue blockers because the Kracken will emerged unscathed, stronger, and bloody as hell from the womb of Hades to shower down the PAIN upon all who get in her way.

Book it.

I can't see the motion behind the curtains making an impact this year. Maybe moving from 6th to 4th in Trinity League perhaps if the kids buy into Troy Thomas, but thats a stretch for 2018 season. There isn't enough game changers to make an impact for the upcoming year. Either the "game changer transfers" have already transferred or they are all ready at big time schools. Unless they are going the way of Jserra bringing in under the radar kids in mass numbers and getting out of state transfers. Which way is it? Earlier it seemed they were going the youth movement with OC Buckeyes, but thats hard to bank success on these days. Every school has their model of how it works it for their program.

Servite was 5th last year, but is the early pre-season pick to finish 6th this season. No where to go but up from there.

Who better to lead the Smurfite friars than TT. Golly gee you guys think he is a god. Hope for you he is equal to the task. The Trinity league needs a little more balance.

I was talking about this year, right now the preseason Trinity looks like the Friars are coming out of the gate at 6th. Thats what I was referring. Basing it on last year is irrelevant with all the defections of prime time players.

If you have been a watcher since '68, you'd know why certain Servite football junkies consider him a god. That was a remarkable turnaround he engineered in his first stint. This is a bigger mountain to climb. A more remarkable turnaround, if accomplished.

C18 - whoa. Cockroachesque.

Hey Professor, who no beat down on J. Serra? By the time football season rolls around, they will have at least 20 transfers on the field.

Sounds like they are getting transfers in large numbers. Somehow keeping it under the radar. I don't know who the have taken in, besides Bell from us (wasn't looking forward to him starting anyway), and a running back from you guys, after Sean Dollar took his spot on your starting lineup. Who else did you hear about? I guess they've been able to stay under the radar because there are no big stars involved?

Smog off the 5.

Now we are talking about weight room mildew in those adolescent nostrils. Geez, I love Troy. Really -- no BS. This is me talking. He is a walking, talking, short-torsoed, socially awkward reality show.

The Cleveland Browns think Troy struggled at Crespi.

3-7. 2018 AND 2019. Got it booked. But after that, yeah, maybe, womb of Hades and pain shower.

Wrong again. Street didn’t leave because dollars took his job. Street was on his way out because his parent persuaded him that he shouldn’t have to share the load or feel he should get more carries than he did. The kid was torn.. street is a great respectful person. He even showed up to the awards banquet even when it was a done deal he was leaving the following week. How many kids would do that?? And He came alone. All the other kids who have left md in January the past three years never attended the awards banquet but street did. So make sure you have your info right before you assume.

Damn C-18! That was a entrance. Hoping nothing bu t the best for Troy. Its gonna be tough, but TT is exactly that.
Hes going to need to get the men in the trenches like the guys he had in Troy Nikolas, etc..
Players on defense like Matty Ice Inmann, Cody Frajardo at QB.
It looks like JSERRA is getting pieces to be the 3rd best in the Trinity, or beating OLU for that spot?
Nobody is really talking about Santa Margarita or Servite, what they actually have to make the case as a contender not a pretender.
Bosco
MD

JSERRA
OLU
SERVITE
SM
I think losing JT is going to be alot bigger than people think.

That's a valid take. Could be balanced out by Bosco losing the heart of their defense in Woodbey, Blaylock, and Gilbert. And the only Bosco Offensive Coordinator that's ever had any sustained success against Mater Dei. That's probably a lot bigger than people think as well.

Servite will be spending money it has not spent to win football games. Mediocre coaching has saved money and ruined the school's successful image, an image which means everything. Students will be coming from all over, coaches will be hired from all over. Money will flow from the school to the football program like a river.
