There is a bigger point being missed here. Yes, everyone is entitled to go wherever they want. No one is disputing one's right to do that. What is being discussed is more of a philosophical question as to what makes for better high school football. Football is already under attack from soccer moms, bleeding heart liberals and practically the entire medical community. The last thing football needs is a noncompetitive landscape at the high school level to further decrease interest. I have followed HS football (the Trinity, the Serra League, the Angelus league etc... and local OC football) for three decades and i've never been less interested than I am now. When i already know with 99% certainty who 3/4 D1 semi final teams are since July, the games lose some luster. And the 4th team, whether it be MV, OLU or JSerra or some dark horse team, have no chance to win anyway so whats the point. The current status quo where just a few teams are killing everyone week in and week out just isn't very interesting. The less interesting the games are, i think thats just bad for the popularity for the game as a whole. Interesting matchups with drama all season long might help maintain interest in a sport i have loved for years. Maybe those days are just long gone now.....

No! and don't try to tell me what to believe. I AM gonna say that they started at the school as freshmen. I'll leave out the "so there" if you don't mind. My whole point is, and has always been, that I object to schools poaching the established stars of other schools. That is what I've always been about. I've always liked you dude, but don't come on here and try to tell me what I am allowed to object to.

MD wins the toss and defers...IMG moves the ball methodically on the ground, alternating carries between their two star RBs...mixing in the occasional play action and short out, they keep the Monarchs from crowding the box. The Ascenders move steadily down the field until the MD defense stiffens in the red zone. 4th and 4 at the MD 12...do they go for it?

How much did T-Bone have to pay for the OC Buckeyes to go to Servite?
Also, how many went to St Mary’s in Fullerton?

AAU basketball with the inability of kids to play simple defense has ruined my view of the game but I still watch the game.

Out of the timeout IMG is going for it, they line up 3 wide with a lone back. MD anticipates pass and blitzes, trusting the secondary to handle the receivers 1:1. QB takes the snap, fakes a quick throw and hands it to the RB. The draw takes MD by surprise and the back takes it right up the gut untouched for the TD...after raucous celebrating by the Ascenders, on the PAT the holder fumbles the snap and is smothered by a host of Monarchs...halfway through the 1st quarter it's 6-0 IMG

:-({|=

Sorry you take such great exception to quotes from 1) the leader of your political party and 2) the most prominent conservative journalist in America. That must be particularly galling for you.

But here's the good news - since those quotes are in the signature area and not in the body of a post supposedly about HS football, if they give you prickly heat, well, you're free not to read them...just as I am when they're part of the post itself.

De rien...

After the ensuing touchback, Mater Dei puts together its own workmanlike drive, mixing short passes over the middle with runs to the outside to great effect. This strategy effectively neutralizes the blitzing of the fearsome IMG linebackers who were earlier keying on the QB, and the Monarchs slowly advance down the field. But again, as the ball moves deeper into enemy territory, the defensive resistance stiffens. After two running plays are stuffed and a 3rd down pass is tipped and nearly intercepted, Mater Dei is faced with a 4th and 10 from the 25. The field goal unit is sent in to try to cut the lead in half, but before the ball is snapped an overeager IMG lineman jumps offsides and the zebras move the ball to the 20...MD now only needs 5 yards to keep the drive alive. A timeout is called and the Monarch coaches huddle...

During the timeout, there seems to be a disturbance of some sort on the visitors side of the stadium...security is escorting a boisterous fan from his seat to the exit. Although he's obviously inebriated, it's not immediately clear why the mustachioed man (wearing a black cape and top hat and bellowing "Go Ascenders!!") is being ejected. When they reach the aisle, though, the reason becomes obvious...he's not wearing any pants.

The Monarchs are going for it...from the spread the MD quarterback takes the snap and is almost immediately buried under a ferocious wave of blitzing Ascenders...but wait. Miraculously, the QB pops out of the roiling mass of blue jerseys and sprints free toward the endzone. With half the IMG defense behind him in the MD backfield, he easily jukes the one man between him and the goaline and dives in for the score. The IMG head coach slams his headset to the ground as the Monarch sidelines and fans erupt...but then, as Fate would have it, on the PAT attempt the kicker's plant foot slips and the ball hits the upright and caroms straight back to a collective gasp from the home seats...

After an alternating series of defensive stands and punts, the half comes to an end and the score stands knotted at 6...
